Don’t think that you’ve “won the argument” or even are no longer being willfully ignorant of your own ostensible field (and kind of ableist, in the bargain) just because I let you get the last word in.  You’re still just as wrong; it’s just that the discussion had become exhausting. 

Also: aside from the cherrypicking, foregone conclusions, and arguments from personal incredulity which you were endorsing in the name of science (because apparently, the definition of “skepticism” now includes a complete lack of what used to be called scientific curiosity), and your condescension when I called you on it?  You’d somehow managed to interpret my criticism of that as calling people “dicks.”  And that interpretation is, in fact, what is known as a strawman.

Don’t mind me; just ranting about someone backhandedly tagging their hate.  The fandom is probably easy to guess even without clicking the link; don’t click it if you’re going to whine.

Korra had been through hell and back over the past few years.  What Asami had been through might not be as obvious...but she did kind of rebuild the bedamned fucking city while knowing that someone she loved was hurting and she couldn’t do anything about it.  (And also, her dad died just as she was getting to where she could forgive him after what he did...although you also saw fit to complain about him dying.  Sorry, but...as dead antagonists go, I’d rather mourn, say, a certain former child soldier.)

So...even if we’re ignoring how you seem to think that the one book (if we’re generous) worth of development that your preferred pairing got (never mind that it was being deconstructed even as it was happening) counts for more than half of the series’ worth of development between two compatible characters?  (Yes, I know what the excuses for that double standard will be.  Yes, I could hypothetically explain why it’s a double standard and those excuses are bogus.  But no, I couldn’t actually explain fuck-all without someone making wild leaps of logic in order to accuse me of wrongfully impugning your character.)  You’ve got a lot of damn gall insinuating that the badass girlfriends are somehow out of character or out of line for taking a few days for themselves for the first time in who knows how long.  They’ve fucking earned it.  (Be honest with yourself:  We all know that if we’d gotten almost the exact same story, with the sole exception being your preferred ‘ship rising again from the murky depths, you lot would have no complaints whatsoever.)

...okay, but that post was about a very specific scenario.  And the person who was claiming victory (who, let the record state, is a Douchebros’ Entitlement Activist and therefore has a vested interest in playing victim) deliberately looked up a much wider category for his Gish gallop...and not only did said gallop do absolutely nothing to debunk the point of the specific scenario, but was blatantly (and characteristically) disingenuous.

Teal-deer: no position to accuse anyone else of having their head up their ass, and it’s kinda disheartening how many people took him at face value.

Sorry, but as long as actual depressed people are getting accused of “glorifying” it, I’m gonna side-eye posts like that one.  Invalidating people for expressing anger (likely about shit that they literally can’t be dispassionate about) is kinda skeevy as all hell.  And...let’s just say that not all “disagreement” is created equal.

That’s only a sampling of what’s “off” about that post.
