Thoughts on Lara coming out?

Thanks for asking — this slipped my mind so fast but I want to talk about it so bad! I think based on some internet sleuthing, a lot of ppl believed that she was sapphic but I love that she got to officially sort of come out on her own terms. :) Being out from early on in the group’s career is also probably for the best as it will organically just sort of be there rather than coming as a “betrayal” (bleh) to fans.

I know there are eyekons of all ages and genders (which I love) but I think it’s super cool to have a member of a pop group which is marketed towards teen girls be queer! I can’t think of another similar group with an openly queer member. Hopefully, like Lara said, her being out gives others the strength to accept that part of themselves. I hope that eyekons everywhere will see that idol pop is for everyone!

If anything, I think KATSEYE was formed on the value of diversity and this is just another notch in their belt in that regard. I predict that people may actually get into KATSEYE because they heard there was an openly queer idol, ya know?

Hey anon! This is a good question.

I can’t say any words I want to say. All the words that have come out of my mouth, which have in the past two or more weeks and has only been two or three words, have only been something I like to call “word vomit”.

They aren’t anything I want to say, I don’t even mean to say them. They just sorta fall out. If that makes sense? I haven’t said anything willingly, or even really in context. They just sorta come out and it’s like “where the fuck did that come from?” Lol.

When it first happened, it came out so weird that I literally thought it was someone else saying it. I had no idea it was me until my brain registered it.

So all in all, I can’t speak willingly. However, once and awhile a word or two kinda just spills out.

Do you think Fitz and Sophie being cognates will last?

well

honestly, not really. She cannot ever tell anyone everything, because of her bio mom, and maybe eventually her bio dad as well, and then her feelings for him, her crush on Keefe at the same time she was dating him, her problems with Lord Cassius and Alden Vacker, everything she keeps away from the light, and because of that, her side of the cognate bond is never going to be very strong with him.

But, also. Fitz is most likely hiding quite a bit from Sophie. Why else would he be so worried about her sharing everything? There's clearly a reason he thinks their bond is going to be weak, and it doesn't have to do with her, it has to do with him. Especially if I'm right about Alden in general(i need to post about that sometime and why I think that man would be the best villain of all time), Fitz is probably hiding a lot of little things.

Or maybe he's not. She won't. And they'll be cognates forever.

The thing is, the whole thing is really emotionally unsafe for them. Like, think about it. They dated. Staying so emotionally and thoughtfully connected is not going to help either of them get over the fact that their relationship won't ever be going anywhere.

Cognates in general piss me off, and it's one thing if it's two adults, but it's another thing if it's two emotionally challenged teenagers with crushes on each other. As a former teenager, I can tell you, there would have been nothing I'd have hated more than someone I liked a ton knowing everything about me.

So, yeah. I kind of think these two becoming cognates in general was a poor decision on everyone's part, but yeah.

They could make it, I suppose.

But it might not be healthy for them.

My favorite thing about sastiel would definitely have to be how above all else the boys never seem to give up on eachother.

They're always understanding with one another as well rather then just putting the other down or judging them when they make life altering decisions and it just does something to me, You know?

I don’t know if you read or like sith!obi-wan au’s (i know i know, it’s unlikely but i’m a sucker for it) but i’ve seen you blog about it before so i assume you do. I’ve seen, not many but a few depictions of him in fics but i’ve never seen any go into much about what he wants. What do you think sith!obi-wan would want? In a situation where there isn’t clone wars and things just open for him to do whatever he wants? 1/2

 I mean, he’s on the dark side and they tend to be pretty ambitious, but i can’t picture him in any form wanting to be ruler of the galaxy like palps. What do you think his goals would be bc no doubt sith!obi-wan is power hungry and calculating, but what would his goals you think be? 2/2

I loooooove Sith!Obi-wan. Love. He would be a killer Sith. Terrifying. Lethal. Snobbier than Dooku, even, and that’s saying a lot.

And it’s a great question - what would a Sith!Obi-wan’s motivations be without the Clone Wars?

And I think to answer this, we need to consider Obi-wan’s younger days. What do we know about Padawan!Obi-wan?

He was assigned to Qui-gon, not chosen (both in canon and eu)

He has a large rebellious streak that somehow mutated into becoming a rule-abiding Jedi, probably just so he could clash with Qui-gon

He has a razor-sharp sense of humor

Qui-gon was constantly comparing Obi-wan to himself in his head, thinking Obi-wan hadn’t gotten as far as he should have. Although Qui-gon never says this outright, I find it hard to believe Obi-wan didn’t pick up on it.

Qui-gon wanted the best for Obi-wan (see how he kept him in the first lightsaber forms far longer than anyone else) but was terrible at explaining his motivations, assuming Obi-wan would figure it out. 

Along those lines, Qui-gon seemed to assume a lot of things and was not the best communicator.

And then there was the whole getting nominated for the Council and not telling your Padawan about it. 

Not to mention the prophecy thing.

Obi-wan never quite feels he is enough, always feels like he needs to do better, like he needs to prove himself somehow. 

This last point is important. I think Obi-wan, on some level, would want to prove to everyone that he is dangerous, that he is intelligent, that he needs to be taken seriously. And to that end, I could see him making a gamut at wresting control of some part of the galaxy, kind of like Dooku and the Separatists, or even heading up a criminal organization. Obi-wan is smart enough to know that ruling the entire galaxy is just setting one’s self up to be taken down, that that type of power consolidation is just putting a gigantic target on one’s back. 

So, he doesn’t take over. He just heads an opposition. With the intent of making money, smuggling drugs, perhaps helping the less fortunate parts of the galaxy - but also (and more importantly) - with the goal of making the Jedi miserable, of exposing their weaknesses for all the Republic to see. You doubted me before? he might say. Now you never will. 

He wants to prove Qui-gon wrong, to show that he is powerful, accomplished, intelligent, everything Obi-wan thought Qui-gon never realized about him. 

He wants to luxuriate in the finer things, everything he kept himself abstinent from as a Jedi (I truly believe at his core, Obi-wan is a hedonist - somewhat like Dooku - but does he repress the hell out of that inclination as a Jedi.)

He wants to control the future - makes it his aim to not only study the prophecies, but destroy them by setting them up just to be knocked down. 

Obi-wan Kenobi wants to be seen.

But not as ruler. Let someone else deal with day-to-day politics, with the holojournalists hounding their every step, with the beggars and whiners and masses. Obi-wan would simply control the strings of his puppets, lay down an iron fist when needed, and cultivate his personal interests, forever searching for what makes him better, enhanced, superior (almost like Grievous and his transition to being a half-droid, in a way). 

Of course, that type of quest, that motivation is a black hole of need and eventually would spiral out of control. 

So yeah, Sith!Obi-wan Kenobi, criminal overlord, part-time politician, and scourge of the Jedi is what I’m seeing from this situation.
