I really like the word manifestation, so I’ll find a way to use it in our conversation today. Like those strawberries resting shaded in the pantry plump and piled plumb against each other. I picked that little green basket of strawberries with my own two bare hands, wedged them in my cart next to a floppy package of flour tortillas, an iodized salt canister, and two tubs of cottage cheese. I unloaded them onto the belt at the register, thumbed my debit card from a leather wallet and paid for them. I put them in a paper sack and brought them home for both of us. Every time you pop one in your mouth and bite down that’s a tiny manifestation of my will.
