Asking a Friend or Family member what their plans are, with the sole motivation of determining if they are available to do whatever YOU want them to do... ...Is a DICK FUCKING MOVE!!!
If I tell you I have no plans, then I have just told you I am UNAVAILABLE... ... Because I have NO PLANS! We didn't make plans together, So I'm unavailable to help you...

If you want to make plans with someone, start with TELLING THEM ABOUT THOSE PLANS!!!
Tell them what you want to do and when you were hoping to do it, and ask if they are available. A discussion can follow where both parties can agree to the time,day and the nature of what will be done.
THAT IS HOW YOU MAKE PLANS!!!!
If you casually ask me, "Hey man, what are your plans today?" And I say, "Oh, no set plans, I might do this or I might do that, we'll see where my mood takes me."

Don't Fucking respond with "Oh, good then you can help me with X,Y, and Z!". ...and if you DO respond with that... You're a FUCKING ASSHOLE if you give me shit for saying "No"...
