Today before heading to Robben Island, I was blessed to have an incredibly informative & inspiring tour through the historic township of Langa. Our tour guide Andile gave such a thorough explanation of the history, politics and complexities of the area, South African Apartheid/racism and economic freedom fights that still exist today. From a “Beverly Hills” part with family homes to the shanti shacks, I was in awe of both the struggle that prevails and the kind spirits of those we encountered. Moreover the humility. There’s so much to learn and do for black and brown people around the globe that I leave here even more determined. Our fights run parallel although the circumstances vary.
