The YouTube Interview with President Obama
Real Time Reactions: # YouTube Ask Obama
Yes, The White House has a YouTube page. And right now the clock is counting down to a live streaming of a YouTube video interview with President Obama. There’s a minute to go and already, people are leaving comments left and right. Comments are loading so fast there’s no time to actually read them. The video begins with Google subscriber’s anonymous questions (of the people).Hank Green now interviews Obama, with the first question regarding middle class economics during one of his speeches. Already from the start of the video, my attention is divided between what is being said, how I’m interpreting what’s being said, and what ideas I want to blog on.
Regarding weapons technology, Obama addresses how drone technology came into light when he (Obama) started office. They discuss how constraints put on how its (drones) are used and how we (the government) target specific deadly terrorists. Another issue addressed, is how do we do that (drone wars) with little damage to the surrounding people? He replies with the realities (difficulties of war) including, “Any kind of war is damaging and results in casualties.” He continues by explaining that with drone strikes, there’s a less need of casualties in, ”Terrorists embedded communities.” He concludes that (regarding this issue), “Today’s technology helps us defend ourselves better than in the past.”
However, this live interactivity, is distracting (difficult). If you’re not used to this type of media interaction, it’s like driving while texting. I’m losing material (information) that I would otherwise easily pick up. It’s not like taking notes during a speech or event, because you’re putting your own insights into what’s currently being said. Personally, I prefer talking about watching something after I have watched it. This way, I don’t miss other aspects or information I missed.
