Kat: awwwwww Kat: tbh I don't know what she'd *do* in that situation either, except try to find out why she *is* getting special treatment, and when she does... enter basically huge amouns of 'what. WHAT.' regarding Met and his... lifestyle Nymphia: "...it's kind of a long story. And by that I mean I have no idea how we ended up here either but I'm glad we did." Kat: Kay: Pass me a bucket please Kat: huh Kat: you know Kat: I think after it sank in, she'd actually be really skeptical of the whole thing Kat: because of the whole human thing Kat: she might try to politely inquire with someone she trusts (which would be... Luci??? idk???) who's from this world if they never did the whole 'nephilim' thing Nymphia: And if he told her that yes, that was a thing here too? Kat: Kay: *goes off to a corner to try and get her mental processing done* Kat: really, though, at that point w'ere just back to the whole "Kay is intrigued by Met and wants to carefully find out more about him because she got burned like hell by the old one and is noticing how different this one is' Nymphia: Poor Kay XD Kat: cue a joking "ugh I wish you WERE more like a stick-up-his-ass prude grumpy asshole with his nose in everyone's business" after accidentally walking in on met/delly ahppening (it wouldn't even take much, they seem like they'd try to be "adventurous" and do it in random place soccasionally) and getting traumatised Kat: "At least with him I didn't have to deal with Mister Redtube here and his Earthly adventures" Nymphia: Pffft, oh god. Kat: I can actually see her fixating a lot on the Met side of things and pretty much not giving much heed to *Delly* Kat: and her getting pissed off about it Nymphia: Ohhhh? Kat: yes Nymphia: Why's that? Kat: mostly just because a human being in a relationship with someone like Met isn't particularly *remarkable* Kat: like, the choice Kat: to her, anyway Kat: the way she sees it, of course you'd want to be under the wing of someone who's that powerful and has the power to make actually nevermind Kat: now I'm not sure Kat: I need to think about this Nymphia: Yes? Yesyesyes? *curls around* Kat: not final thoughts yet, but, like, Kay has issues with power Kat: and she'd view someone's very power-unbalanced relationship from the perspective of the weaker party having protection they don't otherwise have, but also from the weaker party having less room to avoid being pressured and in generally for the power disbalanace to not be abused Kat: (hilariously, because Kay's in a relationship like that herself but it says a lot about Raph that she's never earnestly thought about 'what happens if he tries to use it against me') Kat: (if it were pointed out, by Met maybe, that could be interesting) Nymphia: (gosh, Kay, baby) Kat: (or even by Delly, unknowingly, since she DOES know Kay has a boyfriend) Kat: (she could be like 'okay then what's your relationship like. wait who are you even togehter with. a human or a demon or??) Kat: demon or angel depending on whether she already knew which team Kay's playing for Kat: feel free to copypaste this all to Percy ^^ Nymphia: I'm keeping up with this in a Tumblr post. ^^ Kat: oh dear >D Nymphia: So what would happen if the penny dropped that her own relationship isn't exactly balanced as far as power goes? Kat: tough to say, because she's not exactly *ignorant* of it, but Kat: for most of the time they've been together, she's been feeling that more in the sense of 'I'm a mess and if he weren't here to take care of me and help me through it, I don't even want ot think about it" Kat: and being self-conscious and anxious because of *that* and how dependent she is on him for physical and mental health safety Nymphia: Aw, bby Nymphia: Okay, I'm gonna scuttle off to sleep. If you want to ramble a bit more feel free but I'm gonna post what we had so far. ^^ Nymphia: Goodnight <3
Age of Wisdom, Age of Foolishness
Raphael stared at the door, its impassive face as intimidating as the idea of climbing a mountain the human way, and swallowed, trying to ignore the sunken pit in his stomach.
Oh how he wished that the news he was coming to deliver to Kay was any better than it was. Or anything but what it was.
When she'd asked him to talk to Lucifer himself, judge the news that had sent Kay into such a tailspin for himself, make sure it was actually as bad as she thought it was, he hadn't expected it to be anything like what the Lord of Hell had told him, and the thought of telling Kay that it wasn't quite as bad as she thought, but it was still pretty close...
Shuddering, Raphael half-wished that he could turn tail and run, especially since he'd have to deal with a pissed off, teenaged Fate whose dog he'd left in Hell for the moment, to teach her a lesson about respecting people rather than bulldozing over them.
But he couldn't let himself do that, it wouldn't be fair to anyone, so he steeled himself and pushed the door to their apartment open.
Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)
Benches did not make comfortable beds, Metatron decided.
Nor were cargo shorts, sandals, and flip-flops really appropriate attire for the still-chilly temperatures of early spring in New York. He had no memory of the previous night but he assumed that he'd spent it in warmer climes.
Groaning, he sat up, his head feeling like it had been cracked in two and as if it weighted a ton (in another form, it actually weighed much more, but this was his human form). He sat hunched over with his head between his knees for several minutes, trying to get the pain to ebb and realizing, with a twinge of amusement, he was too hungover and still a little too drunk to even accomplish that. He'd have to deal with this through other means.
It occurred to him that he had no idea where he was. Slowly, he let his consciousness expand, pawing at the world around him for information. He was able to gather that he was in Central Park, but at the south end, which meant he was nowhere near his apartment.
He began contemplating just finding a Duane Reade and buying painkillers, and then finding a brunch he could get breakfast at, when a familiar aura popped up on his radar.
Raphael.
Well, that settled it then.
-----
In retrospect, perhaps it would've been better to go home.
He'd found the building with little difficulty, though he'd had to sit down again after nearly passing out from the effort it'd taken to teleport himself there. Once the world had stopped spinning, he stood, and made the receptionist at the desk look the other way as he made his way to the elevator, and taken it up to the floor he assumed was Raphael's.
But upon approaching the door he'd sensed Raphael's aura coming from, he'd felt the most painful electric jolt run through his entire body, and heard sirens go off through the hallway as he was flung against the wall.
He passed out.
Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Raphael paced.
It had only been a couple of hours, it had only been a couple of hours and he had no idea how hard this Hell was to get into.
Reaching the wall, he turned around and strode in the opposite direction.
But it had been a couple of hours, and all that was supposed to happen was Kay picking up Nona.
He reached the other wall and turned around again.
But it was understandable if, as noble as this Lucifer wanted to seem seemed to be, he wanted to be entirely sure that Kay and Nona were both who they said they were.
Reaching the wall yet again, he spun on his heel, pacing picking up speed.
But he and Kay had dropped a huge bombshell on Lucifer, and then Kay had immediately gone off - alone! - with him, and enough time had passed that he was able to set Tipple up in a little cage from which the snake was watching him and hissing occasionally.
Shouldn't she have been back with Nona by now?
Raphael kept pacing.
You've said in the past that you tried to find them by locating their auras. Can you describe what their auras feel like to you?
Crawly feels... kind of dangerous, honestly. Sweetness and sunlight and stillness and smoothness, like a snake sunning itself on a rock. Friendly and welcoming... until you fuck up.
On the surface, Kay echoes, all hollow darkened spaces full of worrisome ringing, but if you get past that, she feels... I don't know, it's hard to explain.
Both of them feel familiar and comfortable, well-worn into my own.
Nona, on the other hand, mostly feels strange.
Some masquerade!Kay sketches. Scanning and uploading for posterity since I'll most likely try colouring them with those awesome FaberKastell pencils I got. *_*
…Raph, sweetie? Could you come over here a minute?
Er. Sorry?
What is going on here? Why is there fire- are those? Are those is that spaghetti? Do I even want to know?
Um. No, you... probably don't. On a completely unrelated note, how about take-out tonight while we look through the last couple books? I think I found a place that makes good bagel sandwiches....
