IMAGE REAPPROPRIATION
I collected several magazine and article cutouts to create a collaged piece, layered then with typewriter text to reappropriate images from several sources.
After this, I experimented with risographing, creating an interesting effect on my collage. Both versions of the piece are effective in different ways. My original collage draws you more to the colours flowing throughout the piece, whereas the risoprint attracts one to the face and text.
The image I used of this painted face attached to a 21st century model’s body reminds me of the work created by Alexey Kondakov, who manipulates images to contain classical art pieces containing painted figures and placing them in modern day situations. http://instagram.com/alksko
