1000 Reasons to Love The Mandalorian (27/1000)
We know from Din himself that weapons are a part of Mandalorians’ religion. (I guess some viewers knew about that before, but I didn’t.) So you can assume that if he uses his arsenal for anyone but himself, this person is important enough to be worthy of such protection in Din’s eyes. And of course The Baby™ is worth it – that’s not surprising.
But there is one example of this attitude that I really liked.
In Chapter 3, when Din came to the covert with the Beskar The Armourer said: “Whistling birds are a powerful defense against multiple enemies. Use them sparingly for they are rare.” [12:22]. But later, in the same episode, he uses four of them without even thinking about it… [24:06] And why did he use such a unique and amazing weapon the same day he received it? Of course he did that, because he had his baby in one hand, so he couldn’t fight without risking the child’s wellbeing.
In the first episode [14:43] he’s surrounded by four stormtroopers as well (plus two unarmed people)… At this point only his helmet is made out of Beskar, so I guess that hurting him would be much easier. But he’s ready to fight with just a blaster and the rifle. And he would probably win without much trouble, considering how he fights in other scenes.
But just two episodes later, when his armour is much stronger and there’s no need to worry about the civilians in the room, he doesn’t decide to fight physically, even if he would be able to win. He “wastes” his most powerful weapon and goes away as fast as possible. The Baby™ is safe and that was a priority.
Well… this whole post was written just to prove what we all already know, which is: Din will do anything for his son and he already gave us the evidence many times in the first season. Thank you.
