Planned Parenthood is what the U.S. needs.

I have been too emotional these past few days to comment coherently and fairly on LiveNation’s recent video targeting Planned Parenthood - Thanks to this video, I’m ready now.

Abortion is not an easy topic for many. I was raised Catholic and I understand that it is not a choice for everybody. People are entitled to their religious beliefs. This is why our country practices the separation of Church and State.

However, what is unacceptable and downright insulting, is the spread of outright lies about what an incredible organization like Planned Parenthood does. It is libelous.

Planned Parenthood provides healthcare not only to impoverished women but to women like me. I have health insurance and can afford to see a regular OBGYN and have a Primary Care Physician. However, few doctors (even here in liberal NYC) are educated on all current birth control options, queer health, and most importantly for me - How to provide intimate OBGYN care to a survivor of severe sexual assault.

Planned Parenthood is kind, generous, open-minded, loving, compassionate, and dedicated. Although only 3% of their business has anything to do with the touchy subject of abortion, their doctors and staff face outrageous and dangerous protestors on a daily basis.

There are now bills being proposed to defund Planned Parenthood. So like this amazing video by Rebecca Watson let me give you the breakdown -

—Most abortions take place in the first trimester when the fetus is the size of a kidney bean. There are no “parts” to divide up and “sell”.

—Women have the option to voluntarily donate the tiny fetal tissue (that ordinarily would be disposed of) to science to use in research for things like cures, treatments for disease, etc.

—There is no profit, whatsoever, in the donation of fetal tissue.

Please do not allow the spread of dangerous misinformation. Do not let people take advantage of poor or less educated women with fear tactics. Save Planned Parenthood. Stand with Planned Parenthood.
