[ D : Waking up - lil spoiler warning! ; post secret endings ]
Saeran had a habit of waking up before the sun came up. It’s part of why he loved sunrises so much. Getting to see it was also really the only request he asked for, even back at Mint Eye. His revenge was a promise, seeing the sunrise was a request. Rika had given him a window to let him watch the sunrise from his room. Sometimes, when he was lucky, he was able to go outside and just sit in the grass while he watched.
Now he was in a room his brother let him have. It was almost empty, dusty, and barely lived in, but Saeyoung said he could make it his own. He and MC were going to take him furniture shopping, or so they said. The two of them were probably still sleeping, which made sense. But it also meant that, if he wanted to, he could go outside and watch the sunrise. There was a window in the room he was in now, yeah, but Saeran hadn’t been able to watch it from outside in months now.
He slowly got out of bed, doing his best to stay quiet as he crossed the living room and opened the door. Especially since the door had quite possibly the loudest thing Saeran ever heard at 5am. Stupid Saeyoung and his complicated security system, He made it, though, and went to sit at a relatively clear side of the house.
The sky was Saeran’s biggest comfort - it helped him sort out his thoughts and just give him time to himself. He could spend hours just looking at it if he could.
And he practically did. The sun was almost fully up and he was still in the same spot, head leaning against the wall. Part of him wondered if the other two were awake yet. Probably not MC, but maybe Saeyoung. Saeran didn’t like to admit it much, but they were twins. He knew Saeyoung like he knew himself - it was unsettling sometimes. And it was honestly what Saeran thought about most times he watched the sunrise. Would they ever be able to mend their bond? Would he ever trust Saeyoung again?
The door opened before he could spiral even more downward in that thought process, though. MC sat down beside him, a blanket around their shoulders and a mug in hand. “It’s cold out…Saeyoung and I made hot chocolate in case you got cold.” They said, handing him the mug. He took it after a second, taking a sip before looking back to the sun. “Did he tell you to drag me back inside?” He asked. MC let out a short laugh. “No. Just to give you the mug and tell you breakfast is almost ready. We’re going shopping after breakfast.”
“Breakfast?” “Of course, silly. You have to eat well. He’s making waffles.” The two of them sat in silence after that, both staring at the sky with a fully-risen sun. “I’ll meet you inside.” MC said, getting up and readjusting the blanket around their shoulders. “Wait…I have a question.” Saeran called after them. Te turned around with a small smile. “Yes?” “…Why do you care about me? I put you through all that…” “That wasn’t your fault. A lot of the things that happened weren’t your fault. Besides, you helped me meet all of them. Meet Saeyoung. My new family…and you’re a part of that.” They said, smiling growing wider. “Now I need to make sure Saeyoung didn’t ruin the kitchen. Come in whenever you’re ready, okay?”
Saeran sat there, staring at where MC was. A family? That he was a part of? With someone..as caring as MC?
Furniture shopping seemed much more exciting.
