I just watched the first episode of rebels and I am. so. disappointed. I thought this might be a nice way to get past the shock of finishing the clone wars (which I absolutely loved, and that in my opinion adds much to the star wars universe and characters)….but it’s just…..irrelevant? The graphic is lame, especially faces are not as good as in tcw (just look at Vader. Just. No). But, most importantly, the plot is inconsistent. Why do we have two + force users under the empire? It is made quite clear in the OT by Yoda that the only Jedi who survived order 66 are Obi Wan, the twins and himself. Then we have Ashoka, who left the order and is no more a Jedi….but the presence of one Jedi and other force users in Rebels seems just forced? As it seems forced the introduction of completely new characters that have barely any connection with Lucas’ ones. Not to mention the fact that this episode seemed to retain very few of Star Wars’ atmosphere, while it was well preserved (and enriched) in tcw… and the politics dynamics that were mostly well handled by Lucasfilm in the other series, are here quite lame. The characters and the mere existence of the series are very disney-esque, it seems to be made just for money.
