I just can't with the rec comparing Mass Effect to Mass Effect. Incredible XD
I LOVED that one. This has really been the round for people testing how far trickery and weasel words can possibly go and I am here for it.

Guess That Rec Season 3: Round 1, Poll 2
Which sounds more appealing?

Do you want to be a bisexual in space that fucks alien, without having to play the Mass Effect trilogy again? For fans of sci-fic, romance, and monsterfucking, comes a new adventure where you can be a bisexual in space that fucks aliens, with a unique take! You see, gamers, you're not dealing with the average Milky Way galaxy anymore. This is to go… even further beyond!! Romance female aliens that don't look like blue or purple humans, flirt with the big, tough, monstrous aliens (this is what you always wanted, right?!). Make one small step for a new story, one giant leap into a new sure-fire money-maker choices-matter series!
Rec #132
Do you want to see a neurodivergent, traumatized protagonist grappling with his past as he takes action against corporate greed and environmental devastation (and defies binary gender presentation in the process)? Are you sick of people who challenge the status quo being painted as villains and terrorists? Then you'll love this critically acclaimed story about a rag-tag band of radical activists standing up against injustice, facing off against corporate fat cats and their corrupt security goons, the police, the military (but I repeat myself), amoral scientists, organized crime, and more! The leader of the group is a Black man who defies stereotypes by being compassionate, loving, reliable, and a great father. There are also multiple, major strong female characters in the group, including one who's Asian, plus a mixed-race woman with a leading role in the most memorable scene in the story! In addition to the powerful anti-capitalist, anti-corporatist, and environmentalist themes, the story touches on the challenge of ethical activism and carrying out effective action with restraint and compassion, native contributions to the environmental sciences, the value of leftist flavors of religion in activism, and enduring the human cost of opposing powerful interests and its associated grief and trauma. It's a gripping, thoughtful, genre-busting tour de force that you'll never forget!
Just spent several hours going through Every Single Rec in the tournament with my partner and getting a guess for nearly all of them (and at least commenting on the ones we were stumped on, or throwing out the first thing we thought of). Absolutely not guaranteed to be good guesses, but here they are...
("every single rec" guesses/commentary, part 1 of 4, recs #129-#144):
#129: Maybe a documentary or musical of some sort?? It sounds lovely but I can't quite place it.
#130: Psych...? Maybe...?
#131: I saw someone else's guess for Spore and completely, wholeheartedly agree.
#132: Partner guesses Severance. ...We have not watched Severance.
#133: Based off of honestly very little, I am guessing Guilty Gear.
#134: I say Spongebob Squarepants. Partner says Animaniacs.
#135: Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc from me, Divergent from my partner.
#136: Partner and I both agree on Ace Attorney, but not sure which one/specifics.
#137: Was briefly considering this could be Wicked or just generally The Wizard of Oz universe, but really have no idea bout the trans rep. The Man (tm) would be The Wizard, of course.
#138: Friends guessed this as Seraph of the End, Danganronpa, and Maze Runner.
#139: Best guess is.... X-Men? I feel like it's familiar, but at the same time I can't quite place it.
#140: Partner says KPop Demon Hunters (which I agree with wholeheartedly) or Heathers The Musical.
#141: Partner guesses The Owl House, I guess Revolutionary Girl Utena (which I know only very little about from dashboard osmosis).
#142: Partner says Les Miserables, I think some kind of specific history textbook but absolutely no idea what.
#143: My best guess is maybe The Odyssey? Particularly because of the "vast, centuries-spanning fantasy epics".
#144: First thought is AO3-- second and more reasonable thought, is the SCP.... wikis? I don't know where they put this stuff. Wherever SCPs are from.
Wow, this is incredibly impressive. No one is doing this tournament like you, anon.

Yay, the recs are in! Here are my rapid-fire and poorly thought out guesses, definitely biased by what I've been playing recently...
#131: I'll claim this is Spore.
#138: Yet another guess for Homestuck because everything is Homestuck deep down.
#145: I'll say this is a Pokemon game.
#147: I have not read/watched Gushing Over Magical Girls, but I'll guess it's that. I'm probably way off though.
#152: Disco Elysium?
#166: Claiming this is FFXIV.
Also, I agree that #172 is Hamilton and #186 is Green Eggs And Ham. I can't unsee it now.

We love poorly-thought-out guesses here, and a lot of the time they're right.
