A drama featuring an ensemble cast in a sin city, with a hot priest and hot femme fatales as a treat. A friendship that you can squint at and say it's yuri, especially with some of the things said at the end. Anti-romance love triangles. Tastefully handled depictions of sex workers via metaphor - one of them is the central character and the narrative never shames her. The main character's conflict being fairly queer-coded. Women's rights (and a little bit of women's wrongs, both those committed for understandable reasons and those that are selfish). All of the above executed with minimal unfortunate implications despite the writer's (who might be bi) fear of women and mild misogyny. There's also some grooving vocal tracks from the soundtrack that'll be stuck in your head once you hear them in or out of context.
The behind the scenes story from the debut performance, however, may be more fascinating than the actual play (not that it's bad). Besides the usual appeal of GNC and crossdressing guys, there's also an unexpected crossdressing girl. Also, look forward to heartwarming ad-libs from the two leads, since there's quite a bit of parallels between their characters and their real life situation (some of which was deliberately written by the playwright).

This book has one of the most diverse casts of characters I’ve ever read, and that’s saying something! Even just our protagonists have an incredibly diverse spread, and time is given to every unique viewpoint and more than a few culture clashes. Do you love a man who’s basically a homeless raccoon with hidden depths? A sensible every-character surrounded by VIPs? A crotchety angel? A precocious tweenager? How about a sassy sidekick? There’s something for everybody! Supporting characters include a girlboss who may have done crimes, a kid who loves his dad, and the most iconic lady you’ll ever meet.
But you need more, you say? How about redemption arcs? Redemption rejection arcs? Savvy political maneuvering? Positive depictions of adoption? Sass battles? Bilingualism? Mentally ill characters? Pretty horses? Dysfunctional family dynamics? Environmentalism? Positive fat representation? Ride-or-die BFFs? This has all that and more! And there’s basically endless additional content depending on how deeply you’re willing to commit – there’s always something new to discover and love!
