Headcanon that Eddie Kaspbrak has lowkey been into cryptids, conspiracy theories, all that weird sort of jazz (like Big Foot, el chupacabra, the dyatlov pass incident, illuminati, etc.) for, like, most of his life. And he mentioned it to Myra a few times but she was like ‘That stuff is stupid and a bunch of nonsense’ and Eddie is like haha yeah only weirdos like that ..... but is secretly on all sorts of forums arguing with people over chemtrails and Project Blue Book at like 4 AM
And then fastforward to the AU where Eddie lives (obviously) and Eddie offhandedly mentions something about Loveland Ohio’s Frog Man and Richie’s like ‘.... what the fuck did you just say.’ and Eddie tries to dismiss it and says it’s stupid, never mind.
But Richie is like ‘Nah, man. I’m enticed now. You can’t just mention fucking frogmen and not elaborate.’ and for the first time in his life, Eddie can share all of his obscure cryptid and conspiracy theory knowledge with someone who actually cares and finds it interesting and he feels so fucking validated
and then Richie surprises Eddie by taking him to the annual Mothman Festival and Eddie actually cries because he’s so happy and Eddie definitely gets a shirt that says ‘Mothman Is My Boyfriend’ the end.
