I just saw this exchange on Secret Jerusalem, a Facebook group for people in Jerusalem (mostly English speakers). A soldier who has returned from fighting in Gaza seeking a Purim megilla reading that is quiet.
On Purim the book of Esther (the megilla) is read aloud, and each time the villain Haman's name is recited, people try to blot it out with noisemakers and shouting. This man, who probably spent months in Gaza fighting Hamas terrorists, needs a quiet way to celebrate Purim - the ancient story of the Jews' escape from genocide in Persia - and Chabad in Rechavia (a neighborhood of Jerusalem) has organized a reading for soldiers who need some peace and quiet.
UPDATE: Please do not reply if all you're going to say is that Israeli soldiers are evil. Israeli soldiers are defending the country from Hizbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, both of which want to destroy Israel.
I don't support everything Israel is doing in Gaza. I think there should be a ceasefire to bring in aid to Palestinians, and all the Israeli hostages must be freed.
Nonetheless, Israel needs an army. October 7 proved that, once again.
