Please don’t forget the tsp of sugar when making your own tomato sauce, darlings! It can be really good but just that smidge of sweetness is the difference from good pizza with a slight after taste or amazing pizza that disappears immediately

Food Blog, Reading Challenge Fails & Some Good News Too!
Sometimes I just can’t seem to get much done, or things just don’t turn out quite right…
Regardless of getting it right or done, it’s what I learned along that way that matters. Husband says that some of my ugliest food is the best! Some of my prettiest dishes are terrible! I thought everyone may enjoy these behind the scenes recipe fails! I’ve mentioned that since I started blogging,…

Eschew the concept of natural talent
If there is a common theme emerging from my "recipe fails" ask, it's baking!
Tbh, I am not a great baker myself. I have spent a lot of time figuring out bread, but not without many a fails. I've had bread come out dense enough to build a house's foundation. I've had it balloon up and catch on fire.
What I've learned is baking is a skill that cannot be rushed. It requires time, effort and consistency. Many people liken baking to an art and that's a great comparison to make. Ask any accomplished artist how they manage to create a picture that looks so real it could jump off the page and they will tell you, "practice" and point to their training.
Our society has gotten in the habit of holding up shining examples of people and crediting their natural born talents as key to their success. Too many of us have internalized the message that we are beholden to our genetics and are either born with certain abilities or not.
HORSESHIT.
Sorry, I am attempting to keep this blog's language cleaner but it has to be said.
While many of your fails are funny, it's really disheartening to learn that people have tried something once, failed and took it as evidence they were naturally deficient.
HORSE POO POO ON A STEAMING PLATTER.
My friends, forget your notions of talent and genetic greatness being key to success. If you have an interest in something, try, try it again, try it again and again until you come to hate it but make sure that is when you give it up, not a moment before.
I'm gonna quote Yoda here -
"The greatest teacher, failure is."
You can bake or cook or create an artwork for the ages. It may take you longer than others, but you can succeed and if you don't, your capitulation should be "I just don't have the time or interest to pursue this" not "there's something wrong with me."
How Did These 23 Terrible Food Fails Even Happen? It Seems Impossible.
How Did These 23 Terrible Food Fails Even Happen? It Seems Impossible.
Cooking may take talent, but messing up on an epic scale? That might even take more talent. It’s hard to say how these people messed up these simple recipes so badly. It almost seems impossible that they would be able to get these disastrous results. The next time you burn your popcorn or make your steak a little too well done, don’t fret. You could be one of these people. 1.) Spa-tacos?…

Kitchen Sanctuary’s 1st Birthday and recipe fails for 2014
We’ve reached our 1st birthday!
I can’t believe it’s been a year since I started this little blog that had no more than a handful of views each day (mostly me, my husband and my mum) for the first couple of months. It’s grown into something I love, and I even left my job so I could spend more time on it.
Since that time, you guys have all start visiting me and my viewing figures have shot up to…
