what songs get the creative juices flowing for you?
The music I use to get my creative juices flowing is varied, as it depends on the stories I am writing for because it’s all in little orderly playlists and sounds when I am writing. All my original stories have their own individual playlists, as their musical requirements are different to each other, as I like to write different genres in all my original works. For my fanfictions, it’s either soundtracks from the fandom I am writing about or other instrumental music complied into one big playlist to listen to whenever I am writing the fanfic stories. I don’t listen to a specific song, but a collection of them when I begin to write those fic stories.
For example, for Reckless Spring (original book), all the music on the playlist is complied of 80s and late 70s music because I am writing in the 80s time period about two best friends, whose friendship is in breakdown and how they are going to fix it.It’s one of my favourite playlists I created because I always get inspiration for that story, whenever I am listening to songs from it. Even when I am not writing for the story, listening to the playlist always gets me ideas on what I want to happen to Mona and Carmen, or any of the other characters in relation to those two in the book and put more angst and turmoil on them.
Another would be Demonglass (original book), all the music is more rock, metal and a mixture of other genres, which fit the story, as it’s a Greek and Roman mythology fantasy action story about a demigod, getting back into action after her best friend is kidnapped by furies. It’s a different fantasy story to the urban fantasy ones, I have planned because its more action based, and a lot of the main characters are demigods fighting each other, and there is a civil war on the horizon between Greeks and Romans my main heroine and her crew are trying to stop. It’s different to my 80s story, in terms of soundtrack for sure.
