‘ honestly, i thought that i would be dead by now  ‘ 

the hawaiian beauty lived by a live fast, die young - free spirited attitude but her world took a completely unexpected downward spiral following reckless’s end. 

last we heard of kailani lea in the reckless mansion, she was admitted following an eating disorder and drug problem - stemming from the constant pressure and expectations of the modelling world she had become a part of. Specialising in high fashion and photography - it was hard to open a magazine that didn’t have kailani’s body plastered through it’s pages. Living a carefree, party lifestyle Kailani had no intentions of changing the way she lived - even down to her disorder and drug problem - no matter what the outcome was. She loved her life exactly the way it was - even if it was toxic and that didn’t change when reckless ended. 

That was until she lost the most important person in her life, her last living relative, her mother passed away - no more than 3 months out of the reckless mansion. Kailani was absolutely devastated. She lost contact with nearly everyone from the reckless mansion, dropped everything to go back to hawaii, trying to pick up the pieces that her mother had left behind and found herself in somewhat of a downwards spiral. she let herself fade from the spotlight for twelve months, allowing herself time to heal and recover. 

this gave Kailani Lea time to reassess her lifestyle - she started to live healthily, conquering her eating disorder and giving up most drugs. she rediscovered her passion for photography and composition and the why she’d begun modelling in the first place. From there she decided to rebrand and relaunch herself. 

Kailani realised how important self love and self care both mentally and physically were and began embodying this in her career, only representing brands and products that promoted a healthy and happy lifestyle, both in print and social media. She even began the face of her old friend Blair’s fashion label where they reconnected once again. Kailani now works full time as a model and brand ambassador as well as running her own photography workshops both in New York and Hawaii. She has also began acting in some smaller tv roles as well. 

Coming back to reckless she can’t wait to reconnect with the people she loves, now with a healthier happier mindframe - but still with that fun loving, crazy, free spirit we all love.

‘ and that’s what you missed on glee ‘

wow what a ride reckless was for Rebecca Young. but nothing prepared her for the success she would find following the shows end. 

Passionate about getting her music out into the world, she buckled down and began writing. Before long she had an entire catalogue of music, co-written by her close friend and brief beau Evan Walker. However she struggled to receive offers from commercial labels - either told her music was ‘too pop’ or ‘too moody’ or ‘not on brand’. 

Encouraged by her best friend Sasha and then partner Evan, she continued writing and publishing her music online - gaining a following well above what she gained on reckless. Even performing a couple of gigs co-headlined by Evan. 

frustrated by the fact she couldn’t get herself signed, an idea stemmed from a rant with Sasha. they discussed a lot, the lack of women, LGBTQI+ and POC representation in the commercial music industry, they came up with the idea to launch their own label and to fill that gap in the industry. from there, came sweetener.records. 

This allowed Rebecca to launch her music under their own label as well as sign some incredible talent worldwide. Among their artists included Evan. It felt like overnight that her music took off - reaching the top of the billboard charts in the first week of release. her debut album stayed in the top 10 for 8 weeks consistently, landing her a grammy nomination. Meanwhile her career wasn’t the only one that launched - so did Evan’s which ultimately meant their relationship came to an amicable end. 

Sasha and Rebecca’s label, sweetner.records began to blow up amongst the music industry. Their artists consistently landed themselves in the charts, their tours seemed to sell out within minutes & in 2017 the two landed the top spots in the Forbes 30 under 30 with their most recent artist signed as the one and only - Kesha. 

Now back at reckless she’s excited to reunite with the people that helped shape her and to see what their lives have become.
