he fell..... on a rock..............

jokes aside tho (i mean he did lose his eye to a rock but there's some more context to it), there's such thing as Horse Head Farms (later referred to as hhf) if anyone remembers what that is, and in recks au those guys host races across the desert, which is a good way to Get Rich Quick if you can win.

and, you remember that big vitally important prosthetic etho got? well, he was able to get it of course, his life depended on it, but it also put him in some serious debt. nothing unmanageable of course, the health system provides some good insurance programs and generally helps a lot of its patients as best as it can etc etc, but etho is etho, he can't just be like everyone else. he can't just be normal.

after spending some time recovering from the surgery and getting used to the prosthetic and his new lifestyle, etho was feeling a but uhmm irritated. because suddenly everyone treats him like he's an expensive vase in a museum and he has to be careful around everyone and everything and oh he's so fragile. and that annoys him. a lot. and there's probably some hormonal stuff involved after the surgery but who cares about that stuff. point being, etho is not feeling good and he wants to do something fun and dangerous.

so he signs up for a hhf race, on his hoverboard, not yet fully recovered, quite rusty, against people with better equipment, in the middle of a scorching rocky desert...... i mean, have i mentioned that he's actually very smart?

well, one thing after another, he gets bumped or just trips or something and goes flying, lands on a rock, boom bam eye gone. (he lost the race also but that was pretty obvious)

tango was also participating in that race, also on a hoverboard (tho tango is much better on it), so he reported etho to the emergency team, plus he and etho were able to meet after not seeing each other for yeeeaars, admittedly tho it was a pretty embarrassing time for etho to meet anyone.

he's fiiine tho, he had to walk around with an eyepatch for a bit but he got the prosthetic eventually.
