From November 3 - 20th, marvelfanrecs will be taking Christmas, New Year’s, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Mid-Winter Spending Holiday fic recommendations. We will compile the list for December 1st and read/review at least 2 per week for the entire month of December.

Do you have other favourite DC chracters aside from Shiva and Cass?
Sure, a ton! I'm a huge fan of Jonah Hex, Bat Lash, Tallulah Black, El Diablo, Barbary Ghost, Cinnamon, Nighthawk, Madame .44, most of the Western crew really. Super underrated little corner of the DCU.
I also love me some war comics. Enemy Ace is my favorite, but Unknown Soldier, Mademoiselle Marie, Sgt. Rock and the Haunted Tank are all extremely fun. Blackhawks too, tho' I admit I haven't read as much about them as I'd like to.
Speaking of birds, I also had a year where I got really into Hawkman thanks to Tim Truman's Hawkworld. I have that on trade, plus two volumes of DC Showcase Silver Age Hawkman. Cool guy, that Hawk.
Also, I fucking adore Lobo, especially his 90s solo ongoing by the late great Alan Grant, rest his soul. That thing was a fucking hoot and a half.
And from around that same time, Ennis and McRea's Hitman is a classic. Arguably the most accessible Ennis story and definitely one of the most heartfelt. Beautiful stuff. And their Demon run ain't bad either.
Birds of Prey and Gotham Central are also two of my favorite titles from a little after that, and of those, I loved Lady Blackhawk and Renee Montoya. I tell you, post-Crisis to Infinite Crisis was an extremely interesting time for DC, warts and all, and that last leg in particular had all kinds of cool shit happening.
Finally, more recently I really enjoyed Gene Luen Yang's New Super-Man. That one's pretty much the first thing that comes to mind when I think recent DC runs that I really loved. Only wish there was more of it!
