• Red Dresses.
The dresses of our sisters.
Strewn on the ground. Easily disposed of by the Coastal Gaslink workers who have taken them down, and carelessly left them discarded on the ground. The red dresses that were being used in ceremony at the time that heavily armed officers descended upon our Wet’suwet’en womxn. •
The dresses themselves, symbolize our #StolenSisters. Our missing & murdered loved ones. Over the past year, we have placed red dresses on the territories. The wind can blow through them, and sun shine upon them... which is no longer an option for the womxn they represent. •
Say the names of: Cecelia, Delphine, Ramona, Francis, Danielle, Jessica, Mary, Cindy, Immaculate, Aielah, Alberta, Olivia, Tamara, Roxanne... and so many more. All young womxn missing or murdered from or around the #HighwayOfTears. The highway that has claimed so many of our sisters - which runs through our territories. •
Say their names. Say them out loud. The red dresses disregarded, much like majority of their cases were... and now the dresses lay witness to the violent removal of our matriarchs. •
The statistics are clear: the cases of violence against indigenous womxn are disproportionately higher than that of non-indigenous women. The punishments for perpetrators of those crimes are less severe. The rates are accelerated in areas which house mancamps & transient workers. •
The RCMP have zero qualms about disregarding violence against our womxn... and, as we have seen during January 2019 & February 2020, they even participate in the violence. •
The National Inquiry for Missing & Murdered Women & Girls deemed the epidemic a genocide. •
Tomorrow, February 14th, marks the Memorial Day for #MMIW #MMIWG… we ask that any actions that take place, hold space for remembering our lost womxn, girls, and 2 spirit loved ones. If you can, bring red dresses - to remind them of their continued acts of genocide. •

Canada uses Colonial Treaties for Resource Extraction. Resource Extraction is causing a massive Ecological Collapse. Time is running out.
Ecology over Economy
Spiritual over Political
Responsibility over Rights
Revolution over Resolution

“We must all work in harmony with each other to stand up for what is right, to speak up for what is fair, and to always voice any corrections so that the ignorant become informed and justice is never ignored. Every time a person allows an act of ignorance to happen, they delay our progress for true change. Every person, molecule and thing matters. We become responsible for the actions of others the instant we become conscious of what they are doing wrong and fail to remind them of what is right.” ― Suzy Kassem
As the hereditary chiefs of the Wet’suwet’en fight to stop the controversial $6.6 billion natural gas pipeline, the very landscape and cultural artifacts they aim to protect are being logged and bulldozed away
These are not lawless rebels; they are defenders, lawfully protecting the land and waters, because our governments have resolutely refused to do so
