I FINALLY had surgery on my foot today! Yippee! Only been waiting forever. Probably dont need to even post this but I'm loopy from meds so I'm gonna.
To anyone interested of why it was done:
I had a collapsed foot. Basically my arch fell, and I was walking with my ankle rotating in a contorted position, and the right side of my foot (left foot) just completely on the floor. Basic flat foot. It couldnt be fixed with orthotics or any other conservative therapy. It was very painful..
I have three big incisions on my foot. One on the left to saw my heel bone in half to push over and screw in place for a new replacement of an arch/ankle not being strained. One on the right to fix a torn ligament and to transfer a new tibial tendon. And one on the back of my calf to lengthen my achilles tendon, which helps the foot walk better. Pain was AWFUL when I got out. The nurses however? Love them... I was so loopy I kept asking for more pain meds even though they already gave me extra. One went and asked the doc if she could give me more 🥴😂 oopsy! In retrospect I know I should have just waited but anesthesia is weird to wake up from lol. Since my mom couldnt come in with me, (covid restrictions), one filled up a glove with hot water so I could hold it like a hand. Oddly comforting.
Anyway just thought I'd show yall. I'm currently sipping on a chocolate peanut butter milkshake (thank you daddy-o) and my pain level is much more manageable now that the painkillers have kicked in.
Crutches? Horrible to walk with. I have no upper body strength and standing up and sitting down for the bathroom is....challenging. at least I'll get an arm workout I suppose LOL (Now pushing myself up with my arms and good leg on my bum when going up stairs). We macgyvered a wheely computer chair for me to scoot around in order to get to bathroom until I can get a little knee scooter.
