Mundane Mondays || Steven & Sho

★ — confined spaces; sho doesn’t mind them. but, normally, when he’s all cramped up in somewhere the likes of him shouldn’t be, it’s alone. the presence of this stranger toys with his nerves — and he clearly sees the irony of it. beside a well-dressed and well-spoken young man, what sho should feel is safety. and other than acting as the contrary to everything the delinquent has known, what is this man doing in the city of grandeur?
“ the name’s steven — ”sho ogles at the gem and silver rings embellishing steven’s knuckles. one look, and collectors and pawn shops alike would simmer with envy.
“ sure. acquaintances , ” sho murmurs. he rubs his own knuckles — bare and pale and dry. “ uh, i am … sho . ” ruby eyes wander the elevator, and sho admires the surrounding silence. but, his thoughts keep returning to steven’s jewelry, and whatever else he could be hiding in that pristine overcoat. — well, looks like your luck hasn’t run out, kid! how much d’ya think we’d get for one of rich man’s rings? hm, jack? a hundred? a thousand? two thousand? pawn it for food. rob him for money. trade them for a way out. “ uh, small talk. right , ” sho stammers, folding his arms behind his back. he rocks back and forth, heel-toe. “ i’ve seen everyone in this city, it seems. they never leave, or maybe , they just keep coming back. but, i, uh, haven’t seen you … what business do you have in castelia, mister ? ”
"I'm in Castelia for business reasons," Steven waves his hand dismissively, noting how the boy's eyes followed his gem encrusted fingers with a sort of heat. He turned his attention briefly to the elevator doors, hoping they'd crack open and grant his freedom. "Business stuff,” he continued, “stuff I didn't want to deal with in the first place and now the damn elevator breaks on me." An exaggerated sigh exited his thin lips, Steven was never much of a patient man anyways.
"So... Sho?" Golden optics wandered about the boy's strange markings around his arms and even on his face, stitches maybe? Must be some kind of accident to land him those patterns. "You sound like you've lived in Castelia all your life. Have you?" Steven crossed his strong arms over his chest, leaning back on the metal walls of the un-moving elevator.
