Recreational Computing September-October 1981

The "43 ways to make money with your micro" was a separate article from "who are the computer criminals?" A "software exchange" was, perhaps, somewhere in the middle, given "Worried about the piracy issue?" was brought up. This issue, however, is the last one of Recreational Computing I found in my sources. I do seem to recall a comment it and its predecessors had tried for too long to be advertising-free. Bob Albrecht, who'd got the People's Computer Company newspaper started not quite a decade before, continued to write articles about computing for some time, contributing to magazines including the Color Computer-specific The Rainbow.

Recreational Computing November-December 1979

The top runners-up as well as the winner on the cover of this issue were all created using PETSCII graphics. While the Atari home computers, TI 99/4, and Apple II all showed up in the table of contents as well, a full four TRS-80 programs were also listed there.

Recreational Computing January-February 1979

With its new title in place, this issue carried on much as it had before, with more Apple II programs joining the PET and TRS-80 coverage and a "slightly abridged" version of Jules Verne's story "In the Year 2889."

Recreational Computing September-October 1980

Able to look back a full eight years already, this issue of Recreational Computing reproduced pages from the People's Computer Company newspaper, offered a tribute to a computer not quite as old called the Sphere (of which "perhaps a thousand" were sold), and reprinted a piece from the New Yorker that reported on Pierre Schwob, who had a TRS-80, Apple II, Sol, Sorcerer, and IMSAI computer in his Manhattan apartment.

Recreational Computing March-April 1979

Graphic programs for the TRS-80 and Apple II showed up in this issue, along with two different comic strips in the Stanford Daily that involved pocket calculators talking back to their users and three different reviews of Ralph Bakshi's animated Lord of the Rings.

Recreational Computing January-February 1980

A general introduction to "holistic health" provided the cover story for this issue (which promised the covers, at least, would be upgraded to "glossy paper" soon). There were also introductions to a simple, low-cost digitizing tablet you could write letters of the alphabet on and an adapter to connect S-100 expansion boards to the more limited edge connector of the TRS-80, and a game in Intel 8080 code.
