Video Resumes for Sales & Marketing Recruiters for Hiring Managers, are we there yet?
What about the job candidate or business networker that initiates a video resume or proposal? How is that being received by recruiters, talent acquisition departments?
Now I get it recruiters are tasked with sourcing right candidate for their paying client. This is the top priority of most recruiters. Recruiters are tasked with reviewing and scanning thousands of resumes and making a judgement in 15 seconds or less prior to a candidate interview screen.
A short video link probably won't get reviewed because of time constraints. Most recruiters are busy surfing job boards and scanning resumes or using applicant tracking software programs to be more efficient. So much for being innovative, developing a personal brand and leveraging video if your message is not received by the recruiter or human resources. It doesn't matter how innovative or creative you are if your message does not resonate with it's audience on the initial contact.
I believe the focus should be getting to the hiring manager or business decision maker to see if your talents, services and skills are the match but why can't we be more savvy on the front end of recruiting and sourcing?
