I often wonder what happens at home when Catherine, the resident artist, learns a new craft. I suspect no one is safe.

When you marry an artist:

Catherine spotted in Norfolk Christmas shopping for books & art supplies (December 23rd 2018)

One mum told the Sun that she saw Kate buy multiple trolley-loads of picture books, children’s books and art materials before queuing up at the tills like any other member of the public. She added that she could spot some of the royal protection officers keeping a safe distance from the family, allowing them to blend in with the other shoppers. One woman asked Kate for a selfie, which she politely declined.

Teacher Sarah Daniels, 43, said: “As I was looking at the shelves I noticed a tall dark-haired lady further down the aisle and thought to myself ‘I recognise that face’. “It seemed like a lovely family outing for them the day before Christmas Eve.”

At another point, Kate who was dressed casually in a tweed jacket and jeans, referred to her daughter Charlotte as “poppet.” George took a keen interest in some dinosaur slime when she spotted them in the shop in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, on Sunday afternoon.

‘We are used to all the pomp and ceremony that goes with the Royal Family but it was great to see Kate shopping with her children in the kind of discount store the rest of us use.’
