Today I'll sing beneath the sunlight / despite cancer and ash / and the ugliness of the world / that whines and scratches / at the door / we have......
New poem up at the latest Red Fez.
August 15, 2017
In the City, it is warm and rainy. This summer we have had a lot of unpredictable thunder storms in the afternoons. Just this weekend, Kim and I visited Providence. We took the train from Penn Station to that little city. It was Foo Fest, and there were a lot of bands, some paintings, and crafts in tents in front of As220. We went once, for recon, and saw the general layout. It looked well organized and clean, but no Anarchist Book Fair. After a brief conversation with Jared Paul, Kim and I walked up to Atwells Avenue. We went in and out of the music and arts festival and went to several restaurants, including the Black Sheep, which had a fabulous dry rub on wings, Jacky’s, which had a new location in Waterplace Park, and The Red Fez, an old standby. We got a chance to walk up to Thayer Street and have a scrumptious couple of pockets at East Side Pockets. It was an excellent time, very fun and easy to get to with just a train.

Thomas Disch, Marilyn Hacker and Charles Platt took these photos on a cross-country trip which turned into a book called Highway Sandwiches. Story and other photos at curbsideclassic
I got to school and my friend took one look at me and handed me a red fez. I'm still wearing it. Today is gonna be a good day.
