I’ve already explained that killing all the reds while they were still in their districts wouldn’t exactly cover myself in glory, especially in Biyan.

Killing all the reds while they were getting on the boats wouldn’t have covered myself in glory either, and would have stopped Cene from getting FTL. I don’t like this sort of cheese-to-oranges moral maths, but FTL could be worth cleaned reds. Just.

And if I did start firing? There would be a riot. My colleagues could get killed. And I’m not gambling their lives without their permission.

If there was some way I could do it, where only I was at risk, and at the end Cene could say ‘One of our officers lost her mind, it wasn’t our fault, we should still get FTL’ and Anitam would agree: I’d do it.

Unfortunately, we do not live in that reality.

Attacking someone who looks like trash is understandable though. Think about it, how would you feel if you thought you were seeing a real life r*d?! You should make sure the baby dyes their hair as soon as they're old enough

He’ll definitely dye it when he’s old enough — his head is shaved for the moment just to make sure — but I don’t think it’s understandable to attack people at all, if you were standing near a red wouldn’t you want to get away from them instead of getting closer?

I hope Biyan drowns in garbage so thouroughly that nobody else does this. I hope reds in other countries live out their lives. I hope that this goes so disastrously that no other government would even think to follow Biyan's example.

I can see the points of those who think we should avoid following orvara’s lead until after their scientists have created useable robotic replacements, but I really don’t think it’s necessary. It’s impossible to say how quickly the technology will improve, and regardless, we have an alternative now. The sooner we use it, the sooner the world will be measurably cleaner.
