"When everything else tells you to stop and you keep going? You're a red light runner."

You sound like a man obsessed.

And as she keyed in the sequence to allow herself entry into the accused’s home, she found herself his equal in the same manner. She was a woman obsessed but gods forbid she’d ever admit it. Lishae had moved throughout his apartment the way a ghost haunts long, neglected halls and with a sense of utter belonging. As she stopped to briefly admire the impressive collection of knives and daggers Marqos kept locked in a glass display case, her faint reflection in the sparkling glass mirrored her expression as she came to a staggering realization that she found difficult to shake off.

Marqos trusted her. He trusted her enough to soil his own hands, to bring her to his home, to give her the gods damned code to let herself in.

Her lips, painted the color of the roses he’d sent her, part in her reflection and she turns away from the obvious to further tour the apartment, floating from room to room until the calling of Marqos’ bedroom begged she reacquaint herself with its belongings. The large bed, neatly made, dominated the room. Lishae lightly touches the corner of the mattress as she circles it, flooded with heat and the memory of her last… visit. Marqos’ creation with the rope he had bound her in had been an art form.

She stops at the foot of the bed and knocks the toe of her heel against the large chest.  The temptation to unveil its complete treasure was too great and she crouched before it, flicking the unlatched lock out of the way and opening its top with a quiet creak of hinges. Cuffs, whips, ribbons, jewelry… a low laugh bubbled up and spilt forth past her sin-inspiring mouth as her hand smoothed over the tufted end of a feathery wand.

Her Marqos was a collector, and not just of knives.

Rocking back on her haunches, Lishae contemplates her choices. Making her selections, the cunning woman set her elaborate plan into motion for Marqos’ arrival. In the ways of trust, it was time to reciprocate.
