Creature designs for my graphic novel. All are based on pterosaurs. Two are if pterosaurs became more specialized for the water in different ways. So their heads are super narrow in the front view. Azorr is basically pterosaur world haha.
I have a list to do more so this isn't the end. I also hope to draw them in their natural environment in the future.
One of my first major works in Krita after switching from Photoshop.
A silly beach scene
It feels so good to draw again. Anyway, trying to redo these guys back to their original glory of being big beastly cow things. I went on the original premise of an ugly love child between a blue dragon (D&D) and a yak, and then just went from there with other animal inspirations. Still refining the creature since there are some things I'm still not happy about. It's getting there thoooough.
I may have finally found a format that'll work for quick character references. It's all that's needed for the story so why go further? I can later... Anyway. Last image upload for the year. Have a Happy Halloween! Gwen Sonnen Azorran a Female 24 years old 6'5" (~2m) Father: Olav Cantu Mother: Riya Sonnen - Gwen is the result of a one-night stand. - Crickets are her favorite snack. - Also likes cupcakes made out of crickets. - Was in a terrible accident at age 21. She lost most of her limbs, part of her tail, crest, and eyes. It's since been replaced by prosthetics. Due to their advanced state, it's almost indistinguishable from her real body parts. All the metal is wrapped in a material that mimics skin. A decent make-up job hides the joins quite well. Gwen is still quite self-conscious about her appearance and hides under layers of clothing when out and about. She thinks the eyes are cool, though. It makes her glaring more intimidating. - Became quite unhinged after the accident. Gwen has gone through a lot of therapists in the past 2-3 years. Currently isn't seeing one. - The accident also stopped her parkour hobby. - Helps her dad with his 'work'. - Likes to dance on her off-time. It also helps to keep her coordination. - Olav gave Gwen a dagger around age 16. He felt she was responsible enough after teaching her how to use many different kinds of weapons, including sword fighting, since she was 9. - Said dagger is a family heirloom that Olav stole out of the family vault years ago. It's part of a set of two. - Friends consist of an ex-convict, an internet personality/singer, her father, and a snail. - Will punch you in the face. Will punch you in the face harder next time.
COMING SOON TO A THEATER NEAR YOU....not really. X) It’s just a cover/title page for the first book. Been meaning to do this for a month. Finally sat down, shut up, and did it! Learned a thing or two about paths in Photoshop while making that logo. Measuring in digital space is very counter-productive. Maybe it’s just Photoshop...
So this image. It was one accident after another that eventually was made into this. Essentially, my hand slipped. It's an art test for Red Straggler that ended up to be way too elaborate. It was fun to work on despite the issues I had with planning a background out. Still not a strong suit so it's going to be a trial by fire thing. It was also great practice for Lazy Nezumi. I used some perspective rulers to get the background foundation down. Gwen used the chainsaw for the first time. It was a great excuse to throw blood all over. Nothing like father-daughter bonding over a creepy alleyway murder. For those wondering...the stars in the background aren't stars. They're city clusters. They're supposed to be on a colony the size of Russia. A McKendree Cylinder really. The way in the back background might be too flat for such a thing. I'm still getting used to the weirdness of it all.
