Lizzington ER for the hurt/comfort prompt
Passing out + “What do you mean you’re fine THIS IS NOT FINE”
She doesn’t mean to keep it a secret. It being the stab wound currently sluggishly bleeding underneath her jacket. There’s not enough time between the ambush, the brief explosion they’d used to their advantage, and now the frantic dash towards an exit that Red is sure is there, just up ahead now Liz, one step in front of the other.
Her internal monologue and the quick thud-thud-thud of Red’s shoes in front of her help her keep focus, even as the edges of her vision start to fade in and out. She pushes herself along the hallway, red and yellow lights flashing, and tries not to press a hand to the wound in her side, knowing it will just make things worst.
They tumble, finally, out of a door at the end of the hallway, Liz stumbling into the bright sunlight, just in time for a car to pull up in front of them. Red ushers her inside and she climbs across the seats to lean up against the door on the other side and Dembe peels away before Red has even fully closed the door.
“That was exhilarating,” Red says with a laugh and she can only watch through hooded eyes when he turns to look at her. She’s still pressed against the car door, arm rest digging into her shoulder blades from where she’s angled uncomfortably against it. She tries to laugh and push herself upright, but winces instead and hisses in a breath as she slumps against the seat.
She’s unconscious only a moment, but when she blinks awake, Red is in her space, worry making lines across his forehead. He’s saying her name, Lizzy, the one she loves to hear from only him, but it’s lost in the muffled haze of blood loss and the adrenaline drop.
“’m fine,” she thinks she mutters, trying once again to push herself up.
“What do you mean ‘you’re fine?’ Red says as he frantically pulls his jacket off to press against her side. “This is not fine! Why didn’t you say anything?”
Liz knows she’s about to lose consciousness again and she’d be worried if she was with anyone other than Red. But she knows he’s already got Dembe calling in medics and directed him to a safe house, so she feels pretty okay with passing out again.
“Didn’t want to worry you,” she mutters, eyes fluttering closed again and lacking the strength the pull away when Red presses harder on his wadded up jacket.
“Yeah, well, mission not accomplished.” She doesn’t even put up a fight as he maneuvers himself behind her, pulling her up against his chest. “Stay with me, Lizzy,” he demands.
“Sorry,” she slurs out and it’s only after he whispers a soft I’ve got you into her hair that she finally gives way into unconsciousness.
For the hurt meme: DU with Red and Elizabeth or Pepperoni? Whichever pairing suits your fancy.
Battle wounds + “When you’ve recovered, I’m going to kick your ass for hiding this-“
It’s the tears in her eyes and the worry in her brow that hurts the worst. The wound in his arm from a stray shot doesn’t even come close to the pain he feels when he sees the concern on her face. He’d kept it hidden because he didn’t want to worry her and now, now she just looks devastated.
I’m sorry, he whispers, pulling her close with his good hand. The IV in his arm tugs as he clings to her, desperate for forgiveness in the face of betrayal.
Her own hands come up, shaking slightly to cup his face, caress his cheeks, a ghost of a touch along his jaw. She presses her forehead to his, eyelashes fluttering closed as they share a space.
When you’ve recovered, I’m going to kick your ass for hiding this-
He cuts her off with a small, soft kiss, chaste and yet somehow full of longing. He hopes it’s enough. He knows it isn’t.
Lizzington and "hey! i said stay awake!" -- (injured memes)
He was in heaven. There was an angel above him which meant that he absolutely had to be in heaven. Only, heaven wasn’t supposed to hurt this much. And he was sure there wasn’t supposed to be this much smoke and ash in heaven.
His angel was saying something. He blinked heavily up at her, long, slow blinks that brought him to the edge of consciousness and back.
“Hey! I said stay awake!”
Oh, angels weren’t supposed to hit him. “Red, goddammit! Stay awake!” They also weren’t supposed to swear, he was sure.
“M’awake,” he slurred, blinking again to clear his vision.
And oh, it was Lizzy above him. It was Lizzy who was grabbing the sides of his face to keep him conscious. Maybe not an angel in the traditional sense, but she was heavenly to him.
Red sat up with a groan, letting Liz wrap her hands around his shoulders to help him up. “What happened?” he asked, voice gravely from the amount of smoke in the air.
“Explosion,” Liz answered from where she was crouched next to him. “We need to get out of here.”
“Thought you were an angel,” he whispered, cupping one of her cheeks with his hand.
Liz laughed and helped him to this feet, slipping one hand around his waist to keep him propped up. “Yeah, that’s probably the head wound.”

“Who did this to you?” 🥺 (lizzington)
Liz’s comms go dark. It was supposed to be an easy mission, information gathering, in and out. The risk of danger had been deemed low, so Red hadn’t even stuck around, sure in her abilities to get what they needed and get back to him.
And then she’d missed the check in. And then her comms went silent. And then her tracker went offline.
He’d been halfway across the country when Harold had called and by the time they’d landed back in DC, Red had already called in several favors for a lead.
Still, it takes several hours to find her, bruised and bloody and tied up in a warehouse near the docks. They almost miss her during their sweep, Dembe in front with Red at his back, but she kicks at a crate near her foot and flinches when they swing their guns toward her.
“Lizzy!” Red cries, dropping to his knees next to her. His fingers scramble at the cloth covering her mouth and he takes in her bruised lip, the cut over her eyebrow, the slow swelling of her right eyelid. He’s going to find whoever did this to her and put them through a woodchipper or something equally as painful.
“Lizzy,” he says again, pulling her into his embrace to reach her hands tied behind her back. Near him he can see Dembe undoing the bindings around her ankles. When she’s free, she weakly grabs at him, her breath hitching when he presses against the bruises on her ribs. “Lizzy, who did this to you?”
He wants a name, someone he can hunt down, someone he can hold responsible for leaving Liz in this state. “Who did this?” he asks again, pushing her hair out of her face. Below him, she mutters out a name and he sees Dembe stand and pull out his phone.
Red knows that the call Dembe is making isn’t to the Task Force just yet, but instead it is to whoever can help hunt down the man Lizzy had just named. It’ll take a little bit to hunt him down, so for now he pulls Liz in a little more, until he knows she’s ready to stand.
“It’s okay, Lizzy,” he whispers, pressing a kiss into her hair. “I’ve got you.”

“I’m just so tired” + lizzington !
The freezer door had slammed shut hours ago, after one of their contact’s goons had shoved them unceremoniously into the large refrigerated room. Since then, both Red and Liz had pulled their jackets closer around themselves and were currently pressed together in the corner furthest from the vent. Neither of them had service on their phones, but when they’d missed their scheduled check in, they hoped that the team would come to their last known location.
Liz felt her head drop forward again of it’s own accord, her eyelids heavy with exhaustion, and she felt Red squeeze her shoulders next to her. Her head jerking back gave her a short spike of energy before she felt herself lagging again.
“Lizzy, you need to stay awake,” Red said, shifting a little to prop her up against him.
“I’m just so tired,” Liz replied.
“I know, just a little longer though.” He said it with such confidence, like he always did and his lips were cold where they pressed against her forehead.
“It’s getting colder.”
“It’s not. It’s your brain tricking you.” He shifted next to her again and she let him manhandle her into a new position, her back to his front and his arms wrapped around her. It wasn’t much, but the cold she had felt creeping across her skin seemed to abate for a moment more.
“Red,” Liz started, letting her head fall back on his shoulder.
“Don’t, Lizzy,” he interrupted, pulling back sharply to look at her face.
“No, listen.” Her teeth were starting to chatter, making it harder to get through her sentence. “I just need to say something. Just in case.” Her fingers squeezed against the backs of his hands, pressed against her chest, and she gathered strength from his grasp. “You’ve always been there for me and I - I haven’t always been...nice...or grateful.” Liz’s voice dropped in volume as she continued, taking a deep breath and filling her lungs with cold, sharp air. “I just wanted you to know...that I -”
The loud bang against the door made them both jump and they winced at the loud screech of metal against metal as the door opened and light flooded the space.
“There you are!” they both heard Ressler exclaim and they both sighed with relief and a bit of frustration, even as shivers racked their bodies.
“It’s about time,” Red said, standing slowly and pulling Liz to her feet carefully and leading her out of the freezer. “We’ll finish that conversation later,” he continued under his breath.
The blush on Liz’s cheek had nothing to do with her rapidly warming body temperature.

lizzington, "let me carry you"
Her leg is screaming with every step she takes, but she can see the light from flashlights on the horizon. Liz pushes herself off the tree she’d propped herself against and stumbles forward.
She can hear them faintly calling her name and maybe she’s imagining it, but Red’s voice seems louder, a beacon, worried and frantic as he shines his flashlight around.
“I’m here!” she tries to call, but her voice is weak, throat raw and red and swollen from the rope her assailants had wrapped around her neck. “Red, I’m here!”
She stumbles again, hitting the ground hard and letting out a harsh yell. She struggles to turn over, but finally she settles on her back, breathing harshly and trying to swallow. Above her, through the trees, the stars twinkle and for a moment they seem to spin and she slams her eyes shut against the nausea.
“Red…” Liz’s head flops from one side to another, trying to find something, anything, that could help her. She weakly grabs a stick near her hand and uses what little strength she has left to whack the stick against a tree. The noise rings through her head and echos through the wood around her and when she looks towards the lights, she sees them swivel towards her.
She hits the tree again. And again. And again.
Until finally she hears footsteps and the sliding of shoes as they come down the hill towards her.
“Lizzy!” Red scrambles to her side, his hands quickly framing her face, softening his touch when she winces as his thumb brushes a cut on her cheek. “Oh, Elizabeth,” he whispers.
“Red,” Liz whimpers, grabbing at his sleeves and allowing herself to choke out a sob. “Please.”
“It’s okay, Lizzy, I’ve got you,” Red whispers, pulling her against his chest. “I’ve got you.” He helps her to her feet, letting most of her weight fall against him. “Let’s get you out of here.”
Liz stumbles when they move forward and Red slips his hand quickly around her waist to keep her upright. “Let me carry you,” Red whispers, not waiting for an answer before he notches his hand under her knees and swings her up, letting her settle against him with her arms around his neck.
“I’ve got you.”
