Six months after their engagement, on the day Hiccup defeated the tyrannical alpha in his past life and ended the three-hundred-year war between the dragons and Berk, something remarkable happened

Where his stump had once ended, a ring had now formed, encircling his calf

It was quite subtle, though in the right light it glowed golden

Golden marks also appeared in the areas where there had been burns before, but they were less noticeable

A month and a half earlier, Toothless had developed a similar dark blue mark on his tail fin, right where the tear had once been

All travelers will have marks where their past scars once were

Watching them blossom is terrifying in its splendor

Viggo was lucky enough to see Thor's mark appear on Hiccup's skin

And Riker was unlucky that Viggo also saw how the whip stripes suddenly appeared
