A D.Gray-Man Thought...
While reading chapter 232, I just got the scariest bit of canon news I may have ever gotten about Allen.
Not only was Allen overworked and underfed (which we know is actually really dangerous because of his Innocence), but he was emotionally and physically abused. Cosimov, a pierrot, would frequently beat and degrade him and no one would do anything about it. Some others, including the cook, would beat him too. This boy even almost passes out several times because of hunger and exhaustion. They're running him into the ground.
They gaslighted him into believing that they were being kind to him and that all the punishments and beatings they gave him were his own fault.
They wouldn't even give him a proper name, they just kept calling him Red-Arm or Lil' Red.
The scariest part, though, was that it was hinted that the Ringmaster was interested in Allen sexually, though it's never stated if he has done anything to Allen yet beyond some inappropriate touches. Allen was definitely around ten, but he knew what the Ringmaster's intent was when he swiped his grubby hands over his bottom lip. Allen looked terrified.
Allen is a child slave bought by this possible pedophile, so he technically can't resist if this guy decides to force himself on him. The man obviously has power over Allen, scaring him into behaving by threatening to put him back in the Freak Show or kicking him out on the streets (which is an extremely dangerous place to be for a child Allen's age, especially during winter).
I'm so happy Mana and "Allen" are going to be there for him, even though I know what's going to happen to both of them.
