4. favourite dish specific for your country?

Sunday lunch served in a giant Yorkshire pudding!!! Yorkshire pudding is a bowl shaped pastry thing you can fill with anything savoury and they’re sooo so good. I’m on a gluten-free/low-carb diet at the moment and I’m dyyyyying for a Yorkshire pudding filled with mash potato.

7. three words from your native language that you like the most?

Well English isn’t much fun but for dialect words my favourites are- 

Owt= anything, Nowt= nothing, Mitherin’= pestering for something.

10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?

COCKWOMBLE!! Womble is a great word to say anyway but its a TV creature known for collecting and hording garbage...

14. do you enjoy your country’s cinema and/or TV?

Not especially these days. I fell out of love with Dr Who a while ago, and I no longer subscribe to broadcast TV channels (despite having to pay £12 a month for the right to own a TV) so I’m not really in touch with British TV any more. Last movie I watched as Death Of Stalin though and I always enjoy Armando Iannucci’s work. Actually Jason Issac’s character in that was using my accent which was strange. 

16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?

I think sadly we’re living up to all our worst stereotypes at the moment so I can’t really say I hate any for being wrong. But British tourists overseas are the absolute worst though and that’s 100% accurate. 

Not From The US Asks

An addition to ask no. 8, because apparently sleepy me didn't think of it: One of the reasons I like JakJak so much is because he has the potential to cause these terrifying and cruel events, and yet he just... doesn't. Because why torment puny humans when you can have Family Night and multiple universes to study instead, you know? Besides, its his sister's birthday today, and apart from her smile being way more gratifying there's also cake, so try to top that. (At least that's how I see him~ :)

JakJak has the ability to be scary but he’s never really needed to be (well except for when he helped defend the family home in Laeti, I’m pretty sure he ate some dudes during that battle). I don’t think he actually knows what his ultimate form is - he can unhinge his jaw, grow his claws out, spawn tentacles from anywhere, sprout wings but its mostly just for fun or to cheat at games. All the parents in his two prime realities love him, the kids in at least three realities accept him as he really is without question - if he needs something he can ask for it and I think thats a source of great contentment for him. Plus if someone did threaten or upset him he can just walk out of that reality. That’s the ultimate mic drop in a way. Of course if someone threatens anyone else in his family then theres going to be hell to pay, but also no evidence once he’s done haha. 

I bet there have been some imperial feasts where ten different JakJaks have raided the buffet table through the course of the evening. Time is an abstract concept for pudding is forever.

12. Tell me a headcanon you have for one of my fics. | So this one is about JakJak, who was born in the To Sleep verse, but spent a lot of his childhood with the Laeti family as well. I know he already thanked the latter for accepting him so readily, but in my head he wants his two families to meet, because all of them are precious to him. Thus starts a universe crossing penpal friendship, with the Kylos and Huxes and everyone else exchanging messages and holos more or less frequently. (1/2)

Alternatively, since it was implied that he went universe hopping with one of the Laeti twins more than once (if I remember correctly), I also sometimes imagine him to introduce her to his To Sleep parents in person. (2/2)

😘 That’s exactly right!

JakJak was conceived in the To Sleep, Perchance universe but due to the Weird Force Shenanigans™ he’s related to every Hux & Kylo in every universe, including the non-human ones. That’s why he’s an eldritch abomination who fits in well with the Addams Family vibe in the Laeti Vescimur Nos Subacturis universe. 

He (and later his semi-sister Rowan) wander through the various universes as and when they feel like it, though originally it wasn’t under his control. He first ended up in the Laeti verse as an infant seeking comfort, later he learned to control his ability by moving in and out of that universe because he was hungry or bored or avoiding chores. 

Most other universes he just observes, except for the Modern Emperors verse where he accidentally made a whole new reality by setting up two Huxes with one another. That was a weird one and he’s under orders never to do it again (JakJak isn’t that interested in human sexuality, Rowan is naturally skeeved out at the idea of her father dating himself), but he does hang out with BB Hux, the child in that universe, sometimes. 

Anyway, there’s definitely an element of his the Laeti family communicating with the To Sleep family, mostly via notes. It probably starts with Grandmama Neavben pinning a note to his shirt that reads “This child has eaten four chocolate gateau, don’t feed him any more sugar!” and it gradually grows from there. The Hux in the To Sleep universe won’t have reacted very well to his baby vanishing from his cot/walking through walls/phasing out in the middle of conversations. Any kind of reassurance will be gratefully received. 

Later when the kids are older and Rowan travels along with him it’s treated a bit like setting a kid on an overseas student exchange- “you’re to respect the father in that universe just like you’d respect me. The Kylo can be up to your own judgement.” “I heard that!”

There was a joke for a while that since all my Huxes are distinct characters (gods I miss being able to name them) that JakJak had set up a Hux convention in a parallel universe, with a Kylo creche off to one side, a few nerve wracked Mitakas at the bar and Auren Hux getting into knife fights every thirty seconds. 😀

Today it snowed for the first time this winter, so what's your opinion on snow? Are you more of a summer or winter type?

We had snow on Friday. It’s pretty to look at, and if everyone I know/love/worry about is at home then it’s okay. But if I have to go out in it, or they have to drive in it... nooooope. Do not want. We live and work amongst the Pennine Hills, so snow tends to get deep and drift, but its rare enough that no one knows what the hell they’re doing with it. I’ve gone down a hill sideways in a double decker bus, then walked two miles in the snow and I never want to do that again. 

Wait a minute, this sounds familiar...

ahahaha. I like to be warm. I’d love to live somewhere that never gets freezing temperatures. We even looked into moving to Singapore at one point. 

Sleepover Sunday

For sleepover sunday: What's the last show/movie you watched that had you very yay or nay? And what's on your watchlist right now that you're looking forward to?

Stranger Things was probably the last show I was very yay about, it took me months of persuading to get Netflix just in time for season two so we binge watched the whole thing over a couple of weeks. I relate to Joyce and Hopper on a molecular level I swear to gods. I was a little disappointed with Bob’s direction in season two, but I loved the end of it so I suppose it worked out. 

I was also excited about Series of Unfortunate Events but it didn’t really resonate with me, not sure why.

Watchlist - I’m finally watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine! No one sounds like I thought they did from the gifs haha but so far I’m enjoying it. Other than that, I’m probably going to watch Star Trek Discovery eventually. Maybe haha. 

Any recommendations?

Sleepover Sunday

For sleepover sunday: I've never been particularly interested in the Thorki ship, but then I went and watched Thor: Ragnarök and I wasn't even halfway through the movie, yet I was already thinking "Oh no..." So now I'm having a lot of fun with this new ship, yet my mighty need for fan fiction remains unsatisfied because there are like three fics out there that depict their relationship the way that appeals to me and I'm all like "... damnit... ಠ_ಠ"

I won’t get to see Thor: Ragnarök until it’s on DVD/streaming but while I used to be a frostiron shipper I definitely dabbled in the Thorki ship a bit a lot. There were a lot of excellent AU fics back in the day where Loki was more in touch with his Jotun side where I could definitely see the ship working. It definitely helped that they usually had him being very genderfluid in his shapeshifting, I am here for ‘mother of monsters, father of lies’ Loki haha. I’ve seen a lot of folks mentioning getting into/back into Thorki so I’m excited to see the movie. Thor is a difficult character for me to like (”I got drunk, made breakfast and was kind to a woman- I am ready to be king!!”) but I love Hemsworth, so I’m ready to be convinced haha. 

You should definitely send me the links to those fics. For science :D

Aw, damn, I was looking forward to buying both your artbooks – but alas, looks like I was too busy sleeping. Oh well, then I'll definitely be waiting in line for the next batch! :) Congrats on selling out so fast though, that's amazing!

Hey there! So I really wanted to properly browse your blog after that lovely ask you send me some time ago, but alas, life happened and I only got around to it now. But I have to tell you: Oh man, do I love your art, especially the way you colour – it’s so pleasing to look at and kinda reminds me of comic books and graphic novels. So a great many kudos to you, keep up the great work! :)
