party on you, part of you knew, party on.
A/N: This was inspired by the party4you by Charli XCX trend on Tiktok
This sounds like:
David stirring when he hears Angel’s phone ringing in the middle of the night. Instead of hearing them mumble and groan to turn it off in favor of staying in his arms, something they’d begged for all day, he felt them gently roll away out of his arms. They press a kiss to his cheek before they leave and he forces himself to remain still. He waits, eyes half open, not willing to drift off if they’re not in his arms. Ten minutes passes, then twenty, then forty. Angel has fallen asleep in their bathroom before, slumped over with their phone dangling in their hand after what they’d promised would be a quick bathroom break. He heads for their adjoining bathroom, sweet sleepy smile on his face. It quickly falls when he doesn’t find his Angel how he’d imagined. He doesn’t find them at all. He sharpens his senses, finally hearing them talking quietly in the living room. He lays back down and waits for Angel to come back. He waits for a very long time.
This sounds like:
Milo sitting in front of David, not meeting his gaze. He’d have rathered continuing to take the taunts and jokes before talking to David, and that tore David apart. He’d always liked Milo, admired his courage, and felt unworthy of his loyalty. In this moment, looking at one of his longest and oldest friends actively try to sink into the chair, David acutely feels the weight on his shoulders. Alpha. The walls he’s built to keep grief and anger and hurt at bay have also kept out his friends. Asher had been the first one to find him after he got the phone call about his father. Asher had been the one to offer up living together after David sold his father’s house. Milo was more reserved in his approach, offering cooked dinners and late night Halo campaigns. It had been easier to get lost within Asher’s realm, letting the loud goofy Beta take all the attention, take over hosting in their apartment, letting him filter David’s life into a view he found manageable. It had kept all the emotion away, but now, it was abundantly clear how little room David had made for his friends in his life. David reassures Milo that the taunting will end, lest they find themselves on the end of a serious reprimand. Milo looks at this moment as growth. David looks at it only as an example of his failure as a leader.
This sounds like:
David reaching for Angel in the middle of the night, feeling his hands touch their sheets, a cool absence of his partner’s hot body. His heart pounds for a moment, thinking of shades and things with fangs, before hearing the faint click of buttons and soft music that accompanies his mate’s favorite game. He pads out to find them, resisting sleep and alive and exhales.
