Alternate title: Who Are You?
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Who are you?”
He stopped and smiled at the voice, the female voice that was amusingly demanding. He turned around, hands in his pockets, to find a woman standing behind him; a rather pretty woman with long black hair tied up with a silver lotus pin, long red robes with splits on the side showing off black underclothes, and a woman that was currently pointing a staff with a red ruby at his face. “Well well, I was wondering when the Sisterhood would show up.”
“I said, who are you?” the Sister demanded. “Are you the one that caused all this destruction?”
He chuckled. It was rather comical to be honest—here they were standing in the ashes of what had once been a lush forest, now completely razed to the ground. He’d come to witness the destruction, thinking it would give him a laugh. And boy, did it ever. But now came the Sisterhood to set it all right again, as was the nature of things in the universe, and now he was being interrogated by a woman who clearly thought she posed a threat to him. “No, darling, I’m afraid it wasn’t me,”
“Then who was it? And do not call me that.”
“What, darling? What am I supposed to call ya if I don’t know your name?”
The woman stared at him for a moment, looking to be thinking. Then she said, “I am Red Lotus, of the Sisterhood of the Natural Order. You will tell me what has happened here, and who caused it, or I will bring you to the High Priestess so she may interrogate you herself.”
“Oh, who is the High Priestess again? Last I heard it was Purple Cheetah.”
Red Lotus knit her eyebrows together and frowned slightly. “Purple Cheetah passed on to join the Gods two hundred years ago. Black Swan is our High Priestess now.”
“Oh, really? Rest in peace and all that.”
“You still haven’t answered my question,”
“Well, sorry, Red,” he smirked. “I was distracted by your pretty face.”
Red Lotus’s eyes widened slightly, and he smirked a bit wider when he saw her cheeks flush lightly. But then a split-second later, she blinked and smirked back at him. “Well, I am not distracted by your handsome face. So you might as well answer since your charms aren’t working very well.”
“Ah, but they’re still working.”
“Cocky bastard,”
“Thank you. Now to answer your question, believe the ones responsible went thataway.” He pointed off into the distance. “And you can lower your staff, I’m not gonna hurt ya.”
“No. Who are the ones responsible?”
He shrugged. “Didn’t see. Was just here to witness the chaos.”
Red Lotus looked at him with a rather judging look. “Who in their right mind would want to witness this destruction?”
“Ah, but what if I’m not in me right mind?” he grinned at her.
Her dark eyes seemed to scrutinize him, looking him up and down, trying to see if he was lying. He remained relaxed as ever, hands in his pockets. Finally, she lowered her staff. “You do not have any reason to lie to me. Unless you are one of them yourself.”
“Trust me, Red, I’m not. Not even from this world.”
“Then where are you from?”
He smiled mysteriously. “Wouldn’tcha like to know?” He stepped forward and bent down, grabbing hold of her hand to kiss the back. “Be seein’ ya ‘round, Sister Red Lotus.”
As he turned and started to walk off, he heard Red Lotus say loudly behind him, “You never told me who you are!”
“For me to know and for you to find out!” he called over his shoulder. Red Lotus was silent for a moment, then he heard her scoff and smiled to himself as he heard the sound of footsteps walking away.
Red Lotus… what an interesting woman. It had been millennia since a mortal had interested him like that. Perhaps this warranted a visit to the Sisterhood in the future…
