LET HIM SLEEP | ACCEPTING | @redd-deviiiil
He knew bringing Dante with him was a stupid as hell idea in the first place. He just stalled and stalled every step of the way, causing even more stress to built inside of Nero. At this point, he was starting to FEEL it crawling on the very back of his neck like some sort of talons, taunting and mocking him. They weren’t here to just waste time and have fun, they were here for the jobs NERO had taken for HIMSELF, jobs that obviously, were too MANY for him to do in such a short period of time they had left. Nevermind, he has done this before, he can do it now as well.
That knowledge still didn’t help him any, though. He still sneaked out of the hotels they chose to spend their night in, choosing to just keep going until his own brain told him it was fine to stop and rest even for a few minutes (( that break never came, he just kept going and only sneaked back in at a reasonable hour to make sure Dante wouldn’t suspect a thing wrong with him. Not like he expected this to work though, trying to trick Dante, and it’s not like he CARED in the first place. Nero was doing those jobs for a reason and Dante is NOT going to stop him. )).
The end of their last job came to him like a wave of relief, evident in how all the TENSION that had gathered snug inside his body disappearing in the form of shoulders slumping down and sighs of tranquility escaping him every so often. Only now did he start to feel just how TIRED he had gotten these past few days. Refusing sleep did this to you, he supposed. Everything looks like a bed to him right now. His eyes can barely stay awake and the bumpy road they’re driving on is not helping at all, lulling him into a deeper sense of debilitation. It was just going to be a short nap, a power nap, something to pass the time while driving back. Dante’s shoulder looked quite comfortable right now...
