I thought it looked a little too castle-y on my first try, so I re drew it with less emphasis on copying the style of my ref, and then looked more into mud house architecture.

WIP!! This is my first run cycle ever! I’m at like 14 hrs spent on a simple cycle but I’m proud of it so far!

This probably would have been less difficult if I didn’t decide to animate the wings and flowing clothes😭

I think I started this specific shot months ago but took a detour to learn more about waves and arcs. I was struggling with the wings for forever, but after an obsessive fueled study sesh I had a much better understanding of how to do them and did it all at 3am.

Learned from these great tutorials/lessons.

Doing these exercises really leveled up how I thought about animating. ⬆️

I dunno what I’m doin but I’m doin something, can I get a what what! I’m narrowing down some designs. Tried to get better shape language/interesting silhouettes.

Scar has a hat but I’ve been constantly forgetting to draw it, so it might not stay lol. It flew off in an explosion. Yep

Studying and drawing wings will never not give me a headache, but it’s so addictive lol

Watching Wild Life and Re-watching 3rd life during the big One Piece break has absolutely derailed my fan art interests.

Tell me how I made an entire audio edit, storyboarded a 3min animatic to it, color scripted it and trying to teach myself animation in the last 3 weeks, all because 3rd life desert duo brain rot???? That’s more productive on one project than I’ve ever been in a year.

Sad thing is brain rot motivation can only take me so far. I need the consistent motivation to complete the project and not burn out halfway through 😭

Year+ update on Red Desert Animation project

I greatly overestimated my ability to get this done and tackling it super slowly.

Definitely have more doubts about this project than motivation rt now, but I also really want to just see it to completion.

Another way to put it is 10 of 50 shots done…

Going into this I had no idea how to animate, plan a short story, plan a pipeline/workflow for an animated project so I’m learning as I’m going and that has definitely put the project back.

WELP HERES SOME WIPS! 🚧 I can’t believe I’m still working on this one shot :,)
