FEEL FREE TO IGNORE THIS IT’S REALLY NOT IMPORTANT.

I sometimes write myself some YouTube video scripts even though I don’t have a camera (which is actually kinda sad now that I think about it...) but I’m gonna buy a camera soon, so I’ve been taking it kinda more seriously now, but this one is one that i want to get out there but actually won’t make sense by the time I get a camera, so I’m just gonna post it here instead. I might actually make the video its self just as practice, but I won’t post it anywhere. Anyway this is a response to @ashleymardell ‘s latest video on her channel about being PC. Warning there is some spelling mistakes, I don’t care.

I wrote this as if it was a video so pretend a Ginger androgynous British High school girl talking to a camera with cool jazzy bass music in the background when you read it. Also, the paragraphs are like cuts in a video. I really planned it out. That’s sad. And i won’t get mad if you don’t read it. And yes it’s super cheesy.

“So Ashley Mardell posted a video a few weeks ago about being Politically Correct and I wanted to jump on this bandwagon.

For anyone who doesn't know or needs a recap about what Political Correctness is, in my understanding it's basically being respectful and not using offensive language and stuff like that.

So, for instance, honouring someone's pronouns and not using offensive slurs such as the N word.

As you could probably tell by the fact that I didn't say the actual word, I'm all for being PC. I'm a respectful person and I don't want to ruin someone's day just by saying the first thing that comes to mind.

However I'm surrounded by people who don't get triggered by any specific word, so I don't have to watch what I say that often.

The only time I really watch my language is online.

In terms of my general vocabulary, slurs are simply not part of it.

I was taught ever since I was a tiny baby what's ok to say and what's not ok to say in terms of stuff like that.

The only exception is swearing. I swear all the time. I don't swear in my videos though.

I do get uncomfortable when people use slurs in their daily life.

For example, the F word. (Used against Gay people)

I hear this being said almost on a daily basis and I don't like it.

Even though I've never been called this personally before, I am aware that it hasn't brought anything good to other LGBT+ members, which is why I get uncomfortable when someone says it.

Another thing is people misusing words.

Tons of people in my class use 'Gay' in a negative way and it doesn't sit well with me, It makes me really uncomfortable, Especialy since I see my class to be really respectful and accepting compared to the other people in my school.

I also find that cultural differences is something that fly over people's heads.

Like Ashley, You're not watching this, but I notice that, when refering to black people, you say 'People of colour' often, when over here in the UK, black people tend to prefer being called black than a person of colour.

Some people, though, would jump the gun and call you out on it instead of waiting and thinking for a bit.

But enough about that.

People use the term “Politically Correct” in a not very good way, which is why some people are sceptical when it comes to whether or not they are politically correct.

However if being Politically correct means making a minority or just a single person feel happier and more comfortable, then I'm proud to be PC.”
