description:
Richie is a prince - and a different one at that. Usually you'd think that being a prince is a dream come true, but not for Richie. He just wants a normal life, normal friends, maybe even a boyfriend.
Finally, he gets the chance to move to a place far away from his small kingdom and live with his Auntie Eleanor. The problem? He has to pretend that he's not a prince.
Lying? He's not so great at that.
But for someone who desperately wanted a boyfriend, he never expected to actually fall in love.
Eddie Kaspbrak. The boy with the fanny pack, who actually likes Richie for Richie. And so Richie can't tell him that he's a prince in a place on the other side of the world - and he wants it to stay that way. If someone were to find out, he'll have to move back home and never return.
Will everybody find out? Will his chance at a normal life be ruined?
Richie finds out that not everything is as expected, and most definitely, you can never avoid being one of those who love.
A Proposal Or Two - Reddie
Summary: Richie proposes to Eddie, but little does he know, Eddie has the same thing planned.
Richie bit his lip nervously as he walked down the park, his hand in Eddie's. He looked down at the smaller boy, smiling fondly at the way he ranted about how unsanitary the benches were. Eddie glanced up to see Richie smiling adoringly down at him, and Eddie instantly returned the gesture, gripping Richie's hand tighter.
Richie wasn't bored, or scared, nor unhappy. He was nervous. He was going to propose to Eddie.
He had been planning this for months and months now, having so many stressful phone calls at night with Bev worrying that Eddie would say no and their relationship would be ruined. Eddie was everything to him, and he never wanted to lose him, especially not like this.
Richie was planning to propose when the sun started to go down, it was extremely cheesy and cliche - and that's what he wanted it to be. He wanted to get down on one knee, while tears rolled down his cheeks, and ask the question.
He knew Eddie was a sop.
He scratched the back of his neck restlessly, hoping to his lucky stars Eddie would say yes. Otherwise, well, it would be very awkward. He didn’t do well with awkward.
"You okay Rich? You seem really tense." Eddie whispered into Richie's ear, and Richie gulped.
"Yeah!" Richie shouted out, making Eddie jerk away quickly in shock. Richie's eyes widened when he realised everybody was staring at him. He looked down at his shoes, his cheeks burning a bright red.
Usually he’d love the attention, but not right now.
Richie grinned, regaining his confidence once he saw Eddie’s brown eyes staring up at him, “Just thinking of different ways to rail your mother.” He added. Eddie just scoffed, but he knew he was hiding a smile.
It was almost sunset. Richie could feel his palms sweating, and he nervously chuckled and unwrapped his hand from Eddie’s and wiped his hands on his trouser leg. Eddie crossed his eyebrows in confusion at Joe's action.
"Are you sure you're okay? Cause we can go home if you want, it looks like it’s going to rain anyways and-" Eddie started, until Richie shook his head.
"No, we can't go home! At least, not yet." Richie interrupted him, his body quickly coming to a stop, causing him to let go of Eddie’s hand. Eddie just nodded, used to Richie’s outbursts and different quirks.
Richie took Eddie's hand again, and sat him down on the bench.
Most people would think that this was just a normal bench. It looked like one, but it wasn't, not to Richie and Eddie. This was the bench where they first admitted their feelings for each other and kissed for the very first time.
And, hopefully the bench where Eddie agrees to marry him. It was their bench. The sun began to go down, in perfect view from the bench. It was just like he and Bev had planned. It's now or never, Richie thought to himself.
"Wow, the sun looks so pretty from here." Eddie said, his eyes mesmerised by the sun. Richie watched his boyfriend, love swarming in his heart. He had finally found someone who understood him, who loved him. He couldn’t wait to tell him.
"Eddie. I have loved you since I first laid eyes on you, and I can say that feeling will probably and hopefully never go away. You're beautiful, inside and out. I'm forever captivated by your adorable yet strange personality, and I'm forever in love with you." Richie confessed, like practiced.
Of course, Bev had made him prepare a speech. She knew that Richie would freeze up and probably end up insulting Eddie and his mum - which wouldn’t be a good start to the soppy proposal he wanted.
He got off the bench, taking one of his hands out of Eddie's and going down on one knee. Eddie covered his mouth with his free hand, tears forming in his eyes. Richie took out the black box with the ring in it.
"Eddie...Ed’s, will you marry me?" Richie asked, smiling from ear to ear. His heart was pounding.
Everything was perfect.
Until Eddie burst out laughing.
Richie's smile dropped, and his chest twisted with worry. For once, he didn’t know what to say. Eddie let go of Richie's hand, and put his head in his hands and carried on laughing. Richie felt like crying and he probably could.
"W-what? I'm sorry that I asked but there's no need to laugh at me. You could have just said no." Richie whispered, his heart slowly breaking.
"No, no. It's just." Eddie paused, and he got on his knees to face Richie. Suddenly, to Richie’s surprise, he got down on one knee too. And he pulled out a ring too.
"I had the same thing planned. Bill’s been helping me plan it for weeks.”
Richie started to laugh too. They both were on one knee in front of each other, smiling, two rings.
"Richie, will you marry me?" Eddie asked, and Richie nodded while laughing still.
"Yes, I will. Eddie, will you marry me?" Richie asked, and Eddie grinned.
"Yes." They both stood up, rings still in hand, and bought each other into a sweet kiss.
Richie smiled as he pulled back, “Can I make a your mum joke now?”
