Based on lyrics from the song "Sober" by Selena Gomez: "Same lips, same kiss, but not the same touch."
Clarke knows Lexa loves her when they climb in bed at night, but she's not so sure anymore every time they wake up.
For my Ao3 readers, here is a more in depth explanation as to why I did what I did for Ten Feet Off the Ground.
As mentioned in some of the notes on the chapters, I am in the process of figuring out my self identity and I really wanted Clarke’s coming out to parallel mine. I planned to come out to the one person that mattered most to me sometime in the past two months (April and May 2017), but life happened and suddenly I was spiraling out of control. This meant I had to wait even longer to tell them because I want to be fully present for it and not have a million things to worry about in the moment.
Clarke’s coming out was always the end goal for the work. Obviously, there is still a whole bunch of unfinished business surrounding the cupcake dilemma and Harper and Abby, but essentially Clarke’s story is finished. I have the entire surrounding events are all worked out, I just have to fill in some gaps and write it all out, but this was the intended end for Clarke and all you impatient readers pushed it forward about three chapters. (Thanksgiving was the original idea; Lexa would come to Thanksgiving dinner and Abby would get upset because Thanksgiving is a family holiday, but, you know, Lexa doesn’t have family besides Anya and she’s spending the day with Raven. Abby would be the first person Clarke came out to and would set the stage for how long it would take for her to tell her friends, as well as their reactions.) (I will still be writing this portion, will slight modifications considering Clarke is already out to her friends.)
I don’t know how many of you care about this, but if you wanted to know, here it is. Feel free to message me here on Tumblr or comment on the Ao3 about any of this (just make sure you tell me you’re referring to this post), or just shoot me a nice message (because those are always appreciated).
