Part 3 of 3 of exploring Maya's journey. This one has the Kingdom Hearts 3 attempt THOUGH it was hard to find Nomura's art for that game in one place. Also I had no idea what to do for her outfit colors.

This is a Maya who has regained all of her memories and has decided to go home and fix things. All the pain and hurt from before is still around, but she's trying to manage it. Her actions have consequences, and she needs to start being more mindful of them.

Anywho, the heroes and their journey has come to an end, and it's time for her to return back to her own dimension. A dimension that last she knew, had her turn into a monster and go on a rampage in a city.

Um. See, there's just one problem there.

had released in IMMENSE amount of energy. Energy that created a shockwave across the planet, tearing holes into reality. Talking 47 cracks in the sky that leaked radiation, poisoned the planet, and allowed a sea of monsters to invade and take over. Whoops!!

This Maya had no idea what she was about to get herself into.

It's this optimistic version of Maya that returned home and started off Redemption.

Man, there was so much more I wanted to tell with Redemption that, if I had handled it better, maybe I'd still be working on it to this day. Instead the comic has become this painful thing that hurts to think about. Hurts less now than it used to, but I don't think I'll ever be able to bring myself to return to it. It is what it is.

I'll keep drawing the characters, though~ Yeah~

2017 Convention List

Hey there!

Part 2 of 3 of Maya's exploration. This one drew inspiration from Kingdom Hearts 2.

In the tale of Maya's journey in another dimension, she is broken free of her frozen time with the help of some heroes. She joins them and helps save people from monsters. Yada yada fantasy land stuff...oh my god it's an isekai LMAO. How did I just realize this now? HOW?

Ahem.

Anywho, Maya opens up a lot more with emotions, grows her hair out, and starts regaining some of her memories. This is probably the only time she gets to really be a dorky teenager. Doing all the things that she'll later look back and cringe a little. In a way, she channels a lot of her twin, Makoto's, energy. The long hair adds to it I think.

This is definitely her boldest, make up for lost time energy, era.

Part 1 of 3 of me exploring some of Maya's journey. Part of her character was heavily inspired by Kingdom Hearts, so I wanted to show that by trying to infuse Nomura's art style into the drawings. This one drew inspiration from his KH1 art.

In Redemption, there were plans to address what happened to Maya in the 44 years she was gone. I was also going to use it to explain further how her powers work. Alas, the comic ended too soon for me to get around to that.

I guess the easiest way to think of Maya is to think of her as a heartless. One that can take on a human form, like Ansem. That also means she can turn into a giant ship that you have to battle.

Corruption? That's just darkness. I mean, it's not, but that's the best way to think of it ahaha.

Maya's emotions and state of mind affect how she looks. Least you forget, this is her true form:

Big monster. Probably bigger than a ship. Anywho, that and killing her twin kind of broke Maya and she fled to another dimension where she experienced trauma-induced amnesia for like ahhhh...20+ years. Just frozen in time, not moving forward for a while. I wanted to invoke some element of doll-ness to her design for this era of her life. Some iterations have felt more successful than others. It would also be how Maya saw herself: something inhuman but meant to mimic them, frozen in time and unfeeling. Not a great way to see yourself.

At least this will eventually change for her.
