Rey is complex. Finn is complex. Poe is complex. Rose is complex. Hell, even R2-D2 is complex. Kylo Ren? Violent entitled white boy with anger issues.
I’ve said it before, feeling sorry for yourself while continuing to willfully hurt others is rank narcissism and not a true internal conflict. And tons of fans validate this oh-poor-evil-me crying because the character doing it is a young, abled white man.
What would be a way Kylo Ren could be redeemed that would make all Bendemption supporters violently angry
Redemption Equals Death would be a leading one, as would a family reveal with Rey.
Reylos: I relate to Ben Solo so much... his history with abuse... the way he lashes out in unacceptable and awful ways. I’m not always a good person like Finn, I have been terrible while trying to cope with my trauma and pain. And that’s why the prospect of Ben’s redemption and healing is so important to me... it’s so deeply personal for me... so important...
Me: Hey, I can understand that. We make sense of our experiences through stories, after all, and I’ve also done uncool things when I was dealing with abuse. For what it’s worth I love redemption stories, and while I don’t think there is any way to make full amends for the sheer magnitude of Ben’s crimes he could still repent and try to do good-
Reylos: Also I will have you know my precious BeN diD nOThINg wRoNG in his LifE and doesn’t need to take accountability for ANYTHING, EVER, it’s a war both sides murder hunny :):):) anyway it’s a story with space wizards it’s all allegory and nothing counts Ben didn’t abuse Rey SHE abused HIM also calling someone “nothing” is just sweet talk and if anything the rest of the UNIVERSE should fall to their knees for the crime of not recognizing his martyrdom and they all deserved to D I E for it
