It's very common for people to "spike" eggnog, so it frequently is alcoholic, though not by default
Ohhhh makes sense! Thank you for clarifying! The "spiked" version sounds very good, now I wanna try making some after I get off antibiotics :D

the ones you picked were all really difficult for me, lol!
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
Traditional Danish cooking is not that exciting? It’s a lot of potatoes and pork and gravy.
I will say that Frikedeller (Danish meatballs, which are very quite from Swedish meatballs) are really nice, and something I make myself. They are made with ground veal and pork, and here I usually choose beef and not veal (for multiple reasons).
I also really like the concept of ‘new potatoes’. So in Denmark early/spring summer when you get the first local potatoes it’s a big deal. Supermarkets sell them specially and marked with where they’re from, and it’s different from the bagged potatoes you can get year round. These are usually sold right after they are dug up, and just boiled and served with butter and chopped parsley. I don’t understand I can’t those here - the potatoes are just the same year round? maybe I should try a farmer’s market, but this is not a potato area I guess. (Even when we did a CSA the potatoes were not as good as the Danish ones I felt like tho).
5. favourite song in your native language?
My favorite Danish band is D:A:D (or Disneyland After Dark until they got C&D’ed), but they sing primarily in English.
For songs in Danish, I’d go Gasolin/Kim Larsen Kvinde Min or ShuBiDua Står på en Alpetop and these are kinda old, but they are classics. Most younger bands sing in English (for wider audiences).
I also really like our National Anthem, it’s just about how beautiful Denmark is.
7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
Right now, I can think of ‘slud’. This is not a pretty word, but it’s useful and something I miss in the English language. It means ‘snow/rain mix’ but you can use it as a verb too - it’s a weather type like rain (it’s raining) and so forth.
I also like ‘mæt’ which means the opposite of hungry - you are full, you no longer need food. It’s more specific than the english expression I feel like (there is no ‘not-thirsty’ equivalent, which is interesting)
I’m not sure I can think of anything else that’s my favorite!
I’m not from the US asks!
@redinkofshame I hope I did your babies justice!! 💖

I want a prompt! Someone taking care of someone with stomach bug. (I have the stomach flu rn and I'm full of self pity.)
Gonna go with the modern college au I sometimes write with @stardustlings, about her Adelaide and my Aevalle. Hope you feel better soon! :D
Aevalle is finally in her small, freezing apartment after a long shift, kicking off her shoes and unwinding the biggest scarf she could find from her neck when she gets a text message from Adelaide.
>Are you feeling okay today?
She frowns down at it, pausing before pulling the scarf from her neck. It slides the rest of the way down on its own, and swings in the air, hanging from her hand.
It takes a long time to get a response--she has to prompt twice more to get one in fact. Just two text messages of nothing but question marks.
>I’m just trying to figure out if it’s food poisoning or not.
Aevalle glances up at her dog, curled into a ball on the bear rug in the middle of her floor. He is peering out over his fluffy black tail with pale, grey eyes, looking all the world like he has no interest in moving.
She sighs, loops her scarf back around her neck, and starts stepping back into her boots.
She finds Solas’s leash and coerces him off the rug before she gets a reply.
>I’m not brave enough to leave the bathroom.
She smiles and shakes her head a little as she leads her extremely reluctant dog out of her apartment.
------------
Adelaide is not expecting to hear her apartment door creak open--or to hear the skitter of her bunny frantically hiding in her cage, or the click of claws on the floor, followed by light steps in heavy boots.
She has not thrown up in a while, but she’s still in the bathroom. Just i case she does. She hasn’t eaten anything all day--couldn’t keep down her breakfast, and even water has seemed like a chore. So she’s a litle dizzy when she looks up, frowning, to see Aevalle lean into the doorway of her bathroom, rapidly melting snow piling on her hair and jacket, her ridiculously large dog that is probably not actually a dog looming behind her, looking wet and grouchier than normal.
Poor thing, Aevalle signs.
It takes Adelaide a moment to parse it--she’s learned quite a bit since she and Aevalle started dating, but it’s suddenly very hard to remember what the signs mean.
“I’m extremely contagious,” she says. Which is--logical, she supposes. But about three seconds after she’s said it, she realises that hello would have been a good place to start.
Aevalle only clicks her tongue and shakes her head. With gentle touches she guides Adelaide to her feet, and then to her bedroom. Adelaide is still in her pyjamas, so she doesn’t resist when Aevalle guides her into bed.
Her girlfriend takes a moment to fluff the blankets and pillows around her, then leans forward and presses a hand to her forehead.
“That’s not the most effective way to check a fever,” Adelaide starts to say, but Aevalle only tuts at her, her brow creasing once more in a frown.
Have you eaten? she asks, and Adelaide answers honestly.
Aevalle leaves for a bit--then comes back with a glass of water, and instructions to sip it, but to drink the whole thing. She must doze off for a while, after only managing half of it, because she wakes to a warm, mostly dry, utterly massive dog next to her, stretched out the full length of the bed, her face buried in his fur.
It’s kind of itchy.
But she can smell something--truly odd, wafting in the room. She thinks it has ginger, maybe, but also smells like soup?
She manages to sit up by the time Aevalle breezes into the room, a steaming mug full of whatever-that-smell-is in her hands. Solas’s tail thumps on the bed a few times, and she pauses to scratch between his ears a moment before she sits next to Adelaide. She has to perch on what little space is left.
“Dogs aren’t allowed in my building,” is what Adelaide says when Aevalle presents her with the soup.
Thank you would probably be polite, her brain helpfully informs her.
Aevalle only winks, however, and presses the mug into Adelaide’s hands.
Old Dalish recipe, her girlfriend informs her. With some... questionable convenience store substitutions.
Adelaide stares at her girlfriend with what she assumes is a dubious expression.
It’ll help, I promise, Aevalle signs, her eyes going wide and a little sad--which is just cheating, because she has such big, pretty eyes...
With a sigh, Adelaide sips the soup.
...
“It definitely tastes medicinal,” she says, while she is trying not to gag.
Aevalle starts laughing, pointing at Adelaide’s expression with one hand while stifling silent giggles with the other. Adelaide scowls at her again, which just makes Aevalle double over, and she keeps laughing so hard she nearly falls off the bed.
“And I’m supposed to be the delirious one,” Adelaide grumbles to Solas.
She’s not sure if the fever, but something about the dog’s expression says he agrees with her.

Well, the black I had in didn’t completely come out XD
