“I was 30 years old and the head chef at a local butcher shop, and even though it was my favourite job that I ever had, I had been there for like 6 or 7 years, out of school for a year and was looking at myself thinking that I could continue working for someone else or if I could do something, now was the time. I decided that day [that I would] quit and do something. So I called my friend and said that I wanted to borrow $20,000 to start a food truck and he told me that I was crazy. I hung up the phone, took a look at myself in the bathroom mirror and told myself, “It’s now or never, man”. So I went downstairs and put in my two weeks notice. I came back upstairs, answered the phone and my friend said that he’d lend me the 20 grand – he didn’t even know how crazy it was that I had just put in my notice before [he said yes]!⠀ ⠀ However 20 grand didn’t even scratch the surface of what I thought I needed for a food truck so I ended up selling my home and even then didn’t have enough. I had been dating Layal for a while at this point (she was working another job in Toronto) and asked her if she wanted to come onboard. She agreed, brought the rest of the money and we partnered up. The rest is history.” – Jonny Blonde, owner of Jonny Blonde food truck and Jonny Blonde Kitchen on starting up his business.⠀ ⠀ It was awesome hearing Jonny’s story – be sure to give him some love and stop by his Concession location for some unique, fresh meals!⠀ ⠀ COMMUNITY TUESDAYS CONTINUE!⠀ ⠀ #communitytuesdays #communitytuesday #TRcommunitytuesdays #jonnyblonde #foodtruck #TrueResident #rediscoverlocal #beproudofyourcity #supportlocal #lovelocal #HamOnt #myhamont #MyHamilton #905 #Hamilton #hamiltonian #hammertown #thehammer #hamiltonontario #exploreontario #loveyourcity #ambitiouscity #hamiltonlove #hamontlove #SteelTownStreets #ThisIsMyHamont #goexploring #instagood #igdaily #daily (at Jonny Blonde Food Truck & Kitchen)
