#MiercolesDeMigrantes - Caravana Migrante
I have walk side to side with these persons, I have been among them and I know they are not doing this only because the feels like. They are walking without luggage, forced to abandon their family, exposing their life, sleeping anywhere, and eating of charity because they are surviving for their life.
Is no news for anyone that, for many years Mexico has being consider a country of origin, transit, return and destination for immigrants (Xiaojian 2016). The survival strategic movement, of gather in large group and follow a path, get the media and international attention, is only a survival strategic.
Last year World Economic Forum released their Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report, this analyses state travel and tourism sector in 136 countries, the forum measures the extent to which a country exposes tourist and business to security risks, related to serious harm people (Insider 2018), the names of el Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador shows a height risk for tourism and of course investors, that leads to think in a general public view a lack of stability inside the government.
Of course, like any other news, media play a really important role, fake news are always a tool for distract and delegitimize a human necessity, the way few of the criminalize the movement with scandal notes and xenophobic message, but human mobility as a strategy to save a life is always going to happen, no matter how big a border is or how good are law is written.
This Caravana Migrante has been happening since 2005 and took form, for the mother of disappeared immigrants could find them (Mesoamericano 2011). the movement itself, was a response to failed government state and terrible bureaucracy foreign affairs office of the implicated countries.
Something must be understood, human mobility as a strategy to save a life, is always going to happen, no matter how big a border is, or how good are law is written, this is a necessity and we better star to think this is not going to decrease, this is only going to increase, and we better try to find a pacific solution, rather than keep decreasing world population by killing them.
Since that moment back in 2005 a many of shelters and non-profits, reunited and started to work together, they update and now got together with many more, now they are well known as Documentation Network of Immigrant Defenders Organisation (Red de Documentación de las Organizaciones Defensoras de Migrantes - REDODEM)
We can’t give everything to soft law and international pacts that not imply a legal binding for different governments, can’t be only a responsibility of those who negotiate in four stars hotels, drive luxury cars and dress with labels. This type of human movement is a responsibility for everyone.
