ship with: hibiki, io, hibiki and io at the same time, and yamato. 

brotp: also hibiki and io again b/c tokyo trio is such a good and important friendship..........  as i said in hinako's, i think they have a neat dynamic, and i love daichi's interactions w/saiduq on kingmaker sO MUCH, esp given saiduq's weird status as an alternate neutral route, or a rebirth route if we're going my the faction leaders' star signs (presuming saiduq and hibiki represent the two pieces of ophiuchus??).

general opinions: daichi means a lot to me tbh b/c i'm a huge sucker for everyman characters, and i think he's a really prime example of one.  i like that he has his less than impressive moments and that he can be a real buttmonkey without his importance to both hibiki and the plot being shot in the foot (looks at ds2a, looks at camera).  he's just a really good kid and i love that he's the true route when he constantly feels he can't measure up to bigwigs yamato and ronaldo, yet there he is taking in everyone who's just been thrown under the bus by these two extremist ideologies and being a faction leader without reducing the rest of the faction to almost subordinate status.  also i cried so hard at his r5 event don't touch me daichi is my sON

brotp: obvs hibiki and daichi b/c i love how she enters into their lives and by the end of the game it's like all three of them were always childhood friends after everything they've experienced together and all the different ways they support one another.  i also like her friendship w/airi and hinako once she really bucks up and starts thinking of herself as their equal.

general opinions: i don't even know where to begin w/this lmao i guess i have to admit i relate to io a lot?  i played desu 2 at a time where i was still really trying to sort out where i wanted to go with myself, and so her overwhelming fear of alienating others with her own opinions and feelings hit way too close to home as i was coming out of a period of my life where i experienced those fears as well.  io could've so easily been exactly what she was in ds2a--a passive trophy girl who has moments where she seems like she could be cool, but her agency is ultimately denied her in favor of male characters taking the reins--but she really isn't.  one of the biggest things the anime missed abt hibiki's relationship as protagonist to io (and to daichi b/c her narrative is in a lot of ways parallel to his) is that he isn't there to protect her, nor does he want to. io's fate system is all about her realizing that hibiki has always seen her as an equal b/c she's a wonderful, talented person whose thoughts matter to those around her.  she has so much agency in the story, from things like chasing after the food thieves without even stopping to see if anyone would back her up, to putting daichi's safety before the fact that she just watched her mother die, to helping hibiki on equal ground with a lot of the mandatory plot points like figuring out how the demon summoning app works.  imo io's narrative really steals the show in its culmination on friday, b/c even though hibiki comforting her is necessary for her to survive the ritual, the real crux of that is her opening up to someone on an unprecedented level (all her previous friendships are heavily implied to have been very superficial given her fear of offending others with how she really feels) and then making a choice for herself b/c she knows that despite all she's lost, there are people who genuinely support her and everything she is.  idk it's just really special that io herself is really special, the only one who can channel lugh's essence--and it's not lugh using her body, it's her using lugh's power b/c she's the only one who can contain it.  seeing her channel lugh again without yamato's circles or any preparation/fear for her life in non-daichi routes is also amazing--everything she does post-lugh is such a satisfying character growth, and straight-up i absolutely bawled at her r5 event b/c it took a fairly cliche scenario and made it so powerful both for io as a character and for me as the person interacting with the media.  tbh i just don't get how she isn't popular outside of gross-ass porn b/c you just don't get female secondary leads/implied love interests like her very often??  she has genuine agency and even legit chemistry w/hibiki that feels very sweet and genuine given what they've been through together, esp since she's not a fuckin prize for her and he legitimately respects her.  nitta io acknowledgement squad 2k14 talk shit get hit but actually please talk more abt io.

☼ Remember the shitfest that was desu2a and the even worse shitfest that was desu2a ep 10 with wrongly written crying Io? Yeah you wrote a whole rant (and a very good one too) about the misinterpretations of Io's character in that scene and the original meanings of Io summoning Lugh and Mango reblogged it and I saw it and I got so dokis because FINALLY SOMEONE WHO CARES ABOUT DESU2 CHARACTERIZTION and I followed you and for the longest time I was just "senpai talk to me" before we twittered

oH GOSH hahah i made like half my desu 2 friends thru that ep 10 rant b/c i will never not be mad abt ds2a ep 10

but ahhhh i'm so glad we did start talking b/c our whole lil twitter group was the Best part of desu 2 fandom ;3;
