Some additional headcanons for post-canon Orsino
He is still recognizable by people who used to know him well, but not by mere acquaintances.
He has discarded his old, distinctive set of robes and is now dressed in black from head to toe. His usual attire consists of black high-collared robes, a hooded cloak and gloves.
In battle he wears the armor of the ancient elvhen. It was a gift from Flemeth.
He rarely takes his hood off when in public, because his appearance is often considered frightening. Even when his face is not clearly visible, though, observers notice that there is something off about him, which they describe as “unerring and cold as death”
He no longer wears his signet ring; instead he wears a silver band shaped like a thorny branch around his ring finger.
He still paints his fingernails black. Some habits die hard.
Although he no longer wears his Circle robes, he still uses the Staff of Violation. Retrieving it was no easy feat. He had to track it down from merchant to merchant after Hawke sold it, until he was led to the Black Emporium. Xenon the Antiquarian immediately recognized him and returned it to him for free.
Orsino was shocked to find that Xenon had the lyrium statue Meredith had become in his posession, much to Xenon’s amusement. He eventually bought it, and keeps it in Redthorne, in a secret chamber several feet under the surface, where it can no longer harm anyone, in hopes that one day he will be able to resurrect the former Knight Commander.
Since he returned, he is immune to Red Lyrium corruption. The reason is, he is already “corrupt” in magical terms, because of the necromancy that keeps him alive.
Because of the same reason he does no longer require sustenance or sleep in order to survive. He can stil eat and sleep, but he sees it more like recreation and a way to keep up a semblance of life to make others feel more comfortable around him.
He can no longer cry. His eyes just feel irritated, and he may sob, but no tears come out. Similarly, he can no longer blush, although he retains the body language of “embarrased” or “flustered”.
His heart beats way slower than normal and his breathing is slower too.
He feels cold all the time; which is partly why he wears so many layers of clothes even indoors. His skin feels dry and cold to the touch.
He has come to terms with being a maleficar, and he no longer hesitates to perform blood magic in battle.
Since he is Mythal’s sentinel now, he hears Mythal’s voice in his mind, along with the voices of those who stored their knowledge in the Well of Sorrows.
Like the rest of the ancient elves, he does no longer age and he cannot die of natural causes. However, this does not mean he cannot be mortally wounded and die in battle or be poisoned.
He openly denounces the Maker and worships the Creators. He also engages in practices like ceremonial sacrifices and meditation in private.
His mount is a Thestral, which he found in some village around the Free Marches attacked by some children and half-starved to death. Now they are inseparable.
