How to Feel Less Pain When You're Hurting
In life, most of us are frequently looking for ways to reduce the pain and suffering we encounter. This is something I’ve talked about quite a bit recently. In a previous post here, I talked about how the ability to experience pain and suffering is part of what makes us have empathy and compassion for other people. Here I posted a video about how the mind has an ability to moderate the amount of pain we feel.
I’ve come across some more information I wanted to share with you about pain. A recent study came out of the University of California, Los Angeles that looked at ways to reduce the effect of pain on the body.
This study said that looking at a picture of someone you love can have the effect of a painkiller. Basically love can help sooth pain, whether it’s through holding a loved one’s hand or, viewing a picture of them. This means love is powerful. It is strong enough to help us through difficult times and distress.
If love is this powerful, then it's important to find ways to nurture and cultivate our healthy love relationships. Along those lines, here are some tips about how to fight fair in a love relationship and how to apologize like you mean it - because love should be something to hold on to, for many reasons, including the fact that it help us us feel less pain!
